We briefly discussed her current workload and the areas that she seems to have the most difficulty with. We also discussed some ideas for better study skills (take notes while reading, make notecards, repitition in reading/writing of the material). We reviewed her quizzes from the previous weeks, and worked through each incorrect answer. At the end of the session, we began working on her study review for a quiz that she was to have the next day.

Tutoring review by Karen in Woodland Hills, CA
We discussed the ACT that the student took on the 11th, and the biggest hurdle seemed to be pacing for math, reading, and science. We then completed a reading section lesson, discussing things to be thinking about while reading the passages, such as plot and characters for prose and names and dates for the non-fiction passages. We also practiced coming up with a one to two sentence synopsis of a passage and using that for the main idea questions. We then looked at the various question types and talked about strategies for each. Lastly, we practiced a possible time-saving method of going to the questions first rather than reading the passage first, which the student will practice on the homework for the next lesson.
