Student A: This week we practiced our ability to identify figurative language in Ray Bradbury's A Sound of Thunder. The student is reading at an exceptional pace, she can quickly identify key plot points and make substantiated predictions about the overall plot of the story. Student B: The student and I looked at an ACT prompt to differentiate between: "to what extent," "evaluate," and "explain" question archetypes common in high school English courses. The goal here was to have her understand that dissecting the specific language of a given prompt can have a major impact on the purpose that her writing takes on.
