The concepts and strategies covered specifically during this session: WRP, OPR, differentiation of WPR; discussed alliteration as a poetic element, provided two fun and silly examples; viewed alliteration song on YouTube, completed two alliteration poems using M and C words the teacher provided together; and read a Scooby Doo book. We discussed the plot, characters and events in the story. He started writing his review of the book. The student struggled with alliteration. He found it not to have purpose, and therefore "dumb". The student's attitude towards the material was normal for a student when challenged with new and difficult concepts, but he completed the task with success. No scores/grade reviewed during session.

The concepts that we covered were reading comprehension and main idea. The student is a great reader. She was not struggling. She had a positive attitude with a willingness to learn. I included the strategies to circle the main idea and underline supporting details as she reads along. I told her how sometimes when she reads a paragraph the main idea may be stated in the first sentence and everything that follows are supporting details. I did not leave her with extra practice, but we read two articles and answered reading comprehension questions for both. I am very proud of her and enjoyed working with her! Great student.
