Math Tutoring review by Erin in Danbury, CT
The student wanted to complete homework assignments for the upcoming week. All assignments involved equations with exponents and solving for different parts of the equation depending on the problem. The 1st assignment involved completing charts and knowing when to use the equation for compounding interest continually or the other interest equation. The 2nd assignment had 1 story problem, 1 chart and graph, and a graph within a specified domain. The 3rd assignment was 2 story problems. We looked over the 4th assignment together to quickly read the problems and so I could answer any questions about the set-up. She completed that segment by herself.

Math Tutoring review by Lyndsy in Danbury, CT
The student and I reworked a math quiz, which his teacher said he could correct for more points. His 2 biggest mistakes were forgetting to flip the inequality when dividing and bringing down the negative sign when dividing to solve for a variable. His basic algebra is at or above his grade level now. After math, He read through Chapter 5: Pressure in his biography. He found 10 action verbs per the assignment. He had some difficulty in identifying action verbs, but after a few examples he found them successfully. Lastly, he wrote a brief narrative from the point of view of the ship stuck in ice. He didn't know what sensory language meant, so we reviewed the five senses and he was better able to add details to his narrative.

Math Tutoring review by Mark in Danbury, CT
Student A had a math test he was working on for homework: with minimal help, he was able to complete the times tables (multiplication and division) questions. We also worked on the distributive property for multiplication, division, parentheses, addition, and subtraction, which he did not fully comprehend. By the end of the session, he was doing these problems without help. Student B has shown exceptional progress with her times tables and basic multiplication / division abilities. At school, she has been practicing counting by multiples of 9, 8, 7, etc., and this has helped her with her times tables. Today we worked on fractions, going through a homework sheet that asked her to show which complex and simple fractions were equivalents. We also spent time with times tables and square numbers. For homework exercise, I asked her to memorize the products of square numbers up to 100.

Math Tutoring review by Kevin in Danbury, CT
From 3-4:30 today, the student and I solely focused on solving rational equations and inequalities. There were a few challenging problems in which it was difficult to find the lowest common denominator. However, she completed her homework problems that were recently assigned. I also showed her a way to check her solutions with the graphing calculator. She shared the great news that she received an A on her final exam and also got an A for the 1st semester overall! Her hard work paid off, and I'm so happy for her! She has a quiz coming up next week, but she was uncertain what going to be on it specifically.
