English Grammar and Syntax Tutoring review by Theresa in Merrillville, IN
He read an E-leveled book, an E-leveled passage, and completed comprehension questions based on the both. He showed some improvement with the higher level comprehension. We also practiced counting by tens and writing three-digit numbers in word form. I showed him some strategies to help him and then he began to do better at each task. His focus was more on point today.

English Grammar and Syntax Tutoring review by Diane in Merrillville, IN
He read from a book from school, and he wrote about key details from the story, citing the page. We also worked on Math; we practiced multiplying with decimals and rounding them. He reads well, however he does not break for punctuation and sometimes reads too quickly. Overall, he did well and understood the concepts (animals which have gone extinct). I asked him to write about three ways in which animals become extinct. He found one easily, and he needed help with the other two. He wrote in sentences, and I reminded him about beginning with a capital letter and ending with punctuation. I sent some math problems home with him to work on. My only concern is that he remember his homework in the future. He was polite, followed directions, and participated well.

He read his story from school. We discussed some comprehension questions together. He completed two pages in his math workbook. We finished by reading a passage and answering a few more questions in which he had to write answers. He had to work on scanning the text to find answers to the questions.

English Grammar and Syntax Tutoring review by Bryan in Merrillville, IN
He was able to answer 2nd grade reading comprehension questions with 100% accuracy. When I moved the text to a 3rd grade level, he seemed to misinterpret the text and incorrectly select the distractor answer based on this incorrect inference. I talked through the correct answer with him. We will continue to work on reading passages closely and answering comprehension questions. I will e-mail mom with a practice passage that he can work on and we will review in our next session.

English Grammar and Syntax Tutoring review by Renee in Merrillville, IN
He was great to work with. We worked on an essay about a Langston Hughes poem. His ideas and opinions are compelling. His strength is in the simplicity of his writing style, which is a gift because most students struggle with that. He has some issues with sentence structure and expanding his vocabulary. He could also go deeper into his analysis so his ideas are rich with details and he finds new angles in the writing. Once he conquers these things, he'll be much stronger in British Literature.

He agreed to continue his readspeeder progress and to take another practice exam for the next study session.
