Hello! My name is Trinity. I am a Portland State University Honors graduate with a degree in biology and a minor in community health science. With my degree, I aspire to work in healthcare as a physician assistant. I have a large background in teaching, tutoring and mentoring. I look forward to helping others using the knowledge I have learned in my undergrad! I have taught ESL to elementary school students in Korea and sociolinguistics (in French) to Master's students in Madagascar. I was awarded two of the most prestigious graduate research fellowships in Anthropology for my dissertation research, and have received numerous awards for my academic work as well as my fiction writing and poetry.Standardized tests are sources of anxiety for many students, but I welcome the challenge of turning something so daunting into something manageable that my students can tackle with relative ease and absolute confidence.

Education is the foundation of success. Everyone can be a great student provided they get the support they need. This means that every single person has the capability to be successful. I do not believe that anybody is "bad at math", some people simply learn in different ways or have not been given the chance to fully engage the subject to understand completely.I believe in teaching holistically, teaching understanding; I believe it is most important to understand the material on your own. Someone can tell you how to answer a problem, but the student will only progress when they can reach the solution on their own. I enjoy patiently helping a student discover their own path to the answer. With someone to help out if the student deviates from the right direction, I believe each and every student can achieve their learning goals.Since graduating from Connecticut College in 2010, I have worked as a teacher to students of all ages: from 3 on up. I have taught in the US, in China, in classrooms, at summer camps, in the outdoors, all over. I have a liberal arts background. I attended Reed College and received my BA in Mathematics, 2014.While completing my undergraduate degree, I have been tutoring Math for the last two years and preparing for graduate school to earn my Teaching degree.My favorite subject is Multivariable Calculus because it led me to realize that I wanted to help other people learn Math.I have taken college courses such as Number Theory, Analysis, Multivariable Calculus, Quantum Algorithms, Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra, Geometry, Real Analysis, Complex Analysis, and completed a senior thesis on Differentiation Over Quotient Spaces.I am enthusiastic about applying Math to real life and finding new ways to make Math more approachable.

I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Western Washington University in 2013, and then spent 18 months completing the doctoral course work at Boston College for synthetic chemistry. I've tutored general and organic chemistry privately at Western Washington university, and I've taught discussion sections of general and organic chemistry at Boston College. I'm currently pursuing a Masters in Teaching.My strength as a tutor is that I'm not so far removed from playing the role a student myself, and I remember the struggle of encountering tough material for the very first time. I like to keep that perspective in mind when I meet with students; my tutoring style is focused on building up from strong foundational principles, rather than drilling material into one ear so it can spill out the other. I'm striving to reach that "aha" moment, when the material becomes intuitive. I have also lived in Florence, Italy for a year studying fashion design, and lived in NYC for over 12 years being a fashion designer. I have moved to Portland, Oregon 2 years ago and loving the closeness with nature surroundings and the beautiful forests here.I'm passionate about languages and sharing different cultures, I also enjoy being creative and spend time doing my art projects.
