I taught him a new strategy involving balancing oxygen and hydrogen last and it seemed to help him a lot. He was able to correctly balance the equations with little help from me.

The student and I covered practice problems on net ionic equations. We also discussed direct and inversely proportional graphs. We had a conversation about monatomic and polyatomic ions. We then took up the rest of the time by naming ionic and molecular compounds and acids. The student has an exam in 1.5 weeks so spent time preparing for that. I left her with some reading to do.
