Algebra Tutoring review by Rumaan in Schererville, IN
We covered the entire chapter that we had been working on for the last few sessions. For the most part, I gave the student several problems from each section and watched her solve them and explain them to me. It is the small things she needs to watch out for - sign errors and basic arithmetic, such as distributing the divisor among the entire equation. If she slows down and checks her answers, she will be fine.

Algebra Tutoring review by Mark in Schererville, IN
We covered the vocabulary of terms and polynomials, lists of powers of selected numbers, exponents, and simplifying products of binomials and polynomials. For homework, I asked his mother to make flashcards of the multiplication tables so they can practice speed and accuracy with mental math.

Algebra Tutoring review by Melinda in Schererville, IN
Today the student and I continued working on our Algebra I review. We spent the majority of the time going over section 11-3 which was using radicals in equations. She did not struggle with the radical aspect of these problems; she got caught up with the factoring and solving zeros aspect, which we have covered several weeks before. Factoring is, in my opinion, one of the most important topics that is covered in Algebra II and since I noticed that the student forgot some of what we went over I will try to give her a comprehensive factoring review again right before school starts. Overall the session went well, we did not cover quite as much material as I was anticipating but I would rather take the time that she needs to understand it. It might also be a good idea for her to do a few practice problems by herself independently once it gets closer to the start of her school year. We will continue reviewing where we left off on Monday.

Algebra Tutoring review by Lisa in Schererville, IN
The student and I made great progress tonight. We went over sections on adding and subtracting polynomials, multiplication of monomials, and division of monomials. She did a great job with these sections, and was very focused. We began working on her chapter 7 quiz covering all the sections we went over today, and we will complete it tomorrow.

Algebra Tutoring review by Sherri in Schererville, IN
The student and I continued working on polynomials. We applied the previous skills that we covered to solving various types of multi step equations. She had some difficulty remembering which rule applied to which circumstances. For example, remembering that we add exponents when we multiply two terms with the same base, not when we add two terms with the same base. In order to help her remember, we made notes with a general example of the different rules that apply to polynomials/ binomials/ monomials and I had her express and write the rules in her own words. I also talked to her about looking back at her notes. "The notes are your friend!" I think the student seemed more confident as she was solving problems. She was assigned exercises to do in her state assessment book until we meet again. It has been a pleasure thus far!
