Today, the student and I worked through structural equation modeling. Specifically, we discussed path analysis, mediation, moderation, confirmatory factor analysis and exploratory factor analysis. We discussed the benefits of SEM over regression techniques, how to conduct them and how to interpret results. By the end of the session, the student seemed comfortable with all of the terminology, notation and structure of these methods. We also went over a number of quiz questions on this content -- which she answered most questions correctly and seemed confident with the material. I assigned her some SEM reading prior to our next session.

The student was reviewing for a test. We went through her past work and identified concepts that she was not completely comfortable with. Factorizing quadratics continued to be a struggle for her in terms of remembering the steps, so we created a process foldable. This strategy allows for her to get as far as she can on her own before giving herself a hint. She responded well to the idea of foldables, so is a strategy I continue to use with her.
