Learning is meant to be enjoyed. Young minds are sponges waiting to be filled with knowledge and understanding. It feels good to learn, to grow, to develop. If a student can enjoy and connect with what he or she is learning, intellectual growth and development will be solidified that much more and further learning will be welcomed and sought after. This is my mission as a tutor at Varsity Tutors. To connect the material to each student I tutor on a personal level through visual representation and personally applicable examples. This will lead to a better understanding of what he or she is learning and will allow the student to build a foundation for further learning outside of my sessions.
Along with my mission, I bring with me my experience as a YMCA camp counselor. I spent summer 2012 guiding and leading 10-15 children, ages 5-12, at summer day camp while finishing my final two courses to complete my Economics degree at Michigan State University. Throughout the summer, I successfully maintained a supportive and nourishing relationship with all campers to ensure each of them walked away with a positive experience, new friendships, and a smile. I currently work in asset management here in Chicago. I enjoy skiing, hiking, biking, and traveling in my free time.
