I received a B.A. in Environmental Science and Policy at California State University Long Beach in 2009. I began my graduate studies in 2011 where I also taught undergraduate students for a year in courses pertaining to environmental sustainability and climate change. As part of my graduate program I went from 2012-2014 to Peace Corps in Mexico helping with water projects. In June 2015 I completed my M.S. in Environmental Studies from Florida International University in Miami, Florida. Since 2015, I work at the Environmental Protection Agency and continue to volunteer with a nonprofit, Mariposas, that helps young women in Mexico. Outside of my work, I enjoy water sports, running, and music. I love science and Spanish and hope to share my enthusiasm with students!

I believe in the power of education. For the last eight years, I have been working in and out of schools as a teacher, media producer, and consultant, witnessing firsthand the effect that great education can have on a communit of people. I am especially interested in one-on-one learning, as it has improved my own life time and time again. I am a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a primary focus in Environmental and Structural Engineering. Upon graduation, I moved to Tanzania to pursue a Fulbright Research Grant where I was able to work with community members to help establish a water distribution system for a rural village. After returning, I completed my Masters level coursework at the University of California, Davis in Civil and Environmental Engineering. I have had a variety of tutoring experiences over the course of my studies, ranging from one-on-one tutoring sessions, to group settings through a classroom internship. I am passionate about a lot of subjects including mathematics, physics, and chemistry. I also love literature and writing and can confidently help students practice critical reading and writing skills. In my spare time I enjoy biking, hiking, climbing, exploring, reading, and going to the beach!

I received my Master of Arts in Biology from Point Loma Nazarene University. My undergraduate studies were completed at Pepperdine University, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a focus on Marine biology and Ecology. Additionally, I also hold California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Biology. My credential program was completed at California State University San Marcos. Since completing the credential program in 2008, I have worked as a high school science teacher at a large private high school in the area. In the six years that I have been teaching, I've had the opportunity to teach a variety of courses including: General Biology, Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, Marine Biology, and Honors Anatomy and Physiology. For the past three years, my focus has been on the latter three courses previously mentioned. Prior to becoming a high school teacher, I worked as an Outdoor Educator at Ocean Institute, and traveled throughout Western Europe teaching English as a Foreign Language classes in Greece, and England. I have a true passion for education and science. My goal when working with students is to provide them with an opportunity to take ownership of their learning, resulting in greater understanding and appreciation of the topics we are discussing/learning. In my spare time, I enjoy surfing, swimming, sailing, snowboarding, photography, and traveling.

I graduated cum laude from the University of California, Irvine's school of Public Health Sciences in 2013. In addition to this, I was very involved around my college campus. I played five intramural sports, ran my own program in student government, which brought student teaching to UC Irvine, and served as president of my fraternity where I managed more than 60 members.I am a patient, kind-hearted, and intelligent person who truly values the importance of education in a young individual's life. I am currently applying to medical school and understand the plight of the modern student. I enjoy teaching and it gives me a lot of satisfaction to watch others learn and grow through their academics. I enjoy working with students of all ages from elementary to high school and even in some special cases, college sciences.During college, I tutored more than a dozen courses from start to finish. By using analogies, drawing diagrams, and asking the student questions, I was able to break through to students who were previously panicked about the possibility of failure. I believe in an "active" approach to tutoring which includes asking the student questions to not only get closer to a complicated answer, but to build the student's confidence. In addition, I always try to identify exactly where in the thinking process a student is struggling. After tackling this issue, I have been able to explain concepts and new ideas much more clearly and effectively.

I'm a PhD student in Psychology at Fordham University. My areas of expertise are Psychology, Mental Health, Research, and Writing. I have a master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University, a bachelor's degree in Finance from Penn State University, and experience working on Wall Street (investment management) as well as teaching English. As a tutor I hope to make learning fun and interesting, and build my students' skills and confidence.

I am a graduate of The University of Southern California where I received my Bachelor of Arts inPrint Journalism. I have worked with students from a variety of backgrounds and skill levels. I've tutored elementary school age children in their homes, helping them sharpen and retain the fundamental skills they have learned in class. I've tutored high school students struggling with math and English. Most notably, I've spent years working in class and on campus with community college students struggling with the college writing process. I can tutor a variety of subjects, but I am most drawn to English Composition and Literature. They are my passions, and, as a result, they are my favorite subjects to tutor. Being able to understand written word and being able to express yourself through written word are skills so essential to life that I really consider it a privilege to be able to help someone improve in those areas. My approach to tutoring is to help students see that concepts that might seem confusing or even at daunting at first, can really be broken down into smaller, easy-to-understand elements. And it's not a matter of being "smart" or not; it's a matter of being willing to dedicate the time and effort to truly understand something. Outside of work, one of my main interests is travelling. I've been to many different states and many different countries like Spain, Scotland, Nigeria and Belize, to name a few. I hope to continue adding more stamps to my passport. I also love seeing live music at local L.A. venues (my genre preferences vary from alternative or indie rock to hip-hop and neo-soul). I'm also a huge fan of detective novels of almost any sort, British television dramas and any movie based on a comic book.

I am presently a student at the University of Redlands working towards a degree in creative writing. I have a strong background in general language arts and have tutored students of all ages in the past. I enjoy tutoring because I like helping students become comfortable in even the most strenuous academic settings. In my tutoring sessions, I aim for a casual-yet-firm approach, and I'm most at ease tutoring students in high-level language arts, with a special focus on academic essay writing and general written communication skills. When I have free time, I'm an avid reader, favoring everything from scholarly texts on the history of corn cultivation to highflying space opera comic books.
