Today the student did some review for his test focusing on the more challenging areas. He had plenty of material to go over when I arrived. Specifically we focused on L' Hopital's Rule, finding tangent lines, finding derivatives from graphs and using the chain rule given f, g, f', g'. He gets through derivatives very quickly and even was able to explain a very complex question to me in detail. I wish him luck on his exam and look forward to our next session.

The student and I reviewed some of the work we've done on algebra. We discussed a practice worksheet with problems that have variables on both sides of the equation, then worked on another worksheet where we rewrote equations that have more than one variable. Finally, we worked on converting units of measurement. He did well with the concepts covered. He got confused sometimes about whether to use subtraction or division to rewrite equations, but we ironed much of that out. Overall, he's grasping these concepts very well.

There was online homework with many problems to be revisited. They had to do with interconversion of grams, moles and particles, sometimes in the context of equations. This was our main emphasis. It turns out that in many cases the student was correct with the "rejected" answers but had missed some very small detail like significant figures. Next week we likely will pay more attention with the ideas than homework, for which she is somewhat ahead. Ditto for labs.
