The student reported that he got an A++ on quiz 2 in math. All 20 problems were correct! I praised him a lot. He also reported that he got a B(12/15-80) on his radioactivity quiz. That was great because it contained the half life problems that we struggled so much with. We then worked on completing his math homework which he did. We ended the session by reviewing for about 45 minutes for his test which is scheduled for Friday.

Focus was on more difficult second grade phonics flash cards and specific phonics words that focused on b and d recognition sounds to distinguish between the two. We reviewed several of the student's homework assignments that she received consistent high marks of A's and B's, showing her successful mastery of her assigned reading and writing comprehension on more challenging words. She recognizes where she struggles and is eager to continue with the phonics based practices, given she sees her steady progress. She shows good mastery of sounding out bigger words instead of using word recognition, as this shows her use of the phonics skill set she's being taught. She is asked to continue her review of a combination of simple and more difficult flash cards to gain a better ease at forming and learning larger words. I'm pleased with the student's progression and interest in her reading.
