How can a Science tutor help you?

A fascination with science starts in elementary school and blossoms through middle school and high school. One-one-one instruction with an expert who's passionate about teaching science can present the most difficult class material in a more effective, relatable way. Plus, today's professional tutors make themselves more accessible to students using online access and flexible scheduling. To start seeing the benefits of tutoring for yourself, let Varsity Tutors' find you a science tutor in Bridgeport, CT, who specializes in helping students become independent learners at home.

One of the major tests of science aptitude is the classic science fair. Science fairs are held as early as elementary school, as chapters on life science, weather, forces, and magnetism are introduced at this stage. To help students ace their science fair projects, private tutors can provide additional insight on how to create miniature tornados, rainbows, terrariums, and other experiments. There are no science projects too big or small for a professional science tutor, as many of them are graduate students in biology or even former science professionals themselves. To make sure students are focused on their project, private tutors make sure their tutoring sessions are free from common distractions like video games, TV, phones, and noisy neighbors. This is why an experienced and skilled science tutor in Bridgeport is better apt at developing good study habits than a packed classroom.

Science Tutoring review by Norhan in Bridgeport, CT
Today we reviewed a previous lesson the student had taken at school, but not understood fully. It included mitosis and meiosis in detail. She had questions about diploid and haploid daughter cells, which we answered. She also answered some quiz questions after each lesson. The student told me she received a 72% on her last test, which is an improvement from previous test scores. We will be reviewing old concepts next week for her final.

Science Tutoring review by Ricky in Bridgeport, CT
Today the student and I talked about translation, viruses and bacterial conjugation. We also reviewed the central dogma and did the practice questions in the back of the chapter to prepare her for her exam on Wednesday. The student and I worked ahead of her lecture and she seemed to understand the material well, so I expect she will do well on her test on Wednesday.

Today I worked with both students to help them complete their genetics project. We discussed the differences between phenotype and genotype. Also we completed several monohybrid and dihybrid Punnett squares based on the list of traits that were provided. We also discussed about the meaning of homozygous and heterozygous traits.

Science Tutoring review by Alison in Bridgeport, CT
Today we reviewed cellular respiration. The student had some difficulties with the difference between the ETC, chemiosmosis, and oxidative phosphorylation. We made a flow chart of all the steps of cellular respiration and I think that helped a lot. I suggested that he review it, as well as a specific diagram of oxidative phosphorylation in his book. We also reviewed terms that are important for him to understand as they relate to cellular respiration. We covered lactic acid fermentation and alcohol fermentation as well.

Science Tutoring review by Yuanxing in Bridgeport, CT
Today we reviewed cellular respiration. The student had remembered much of the material we went over before. Since there was no new information he needed to learn, we spent the time reinforcing what he needed to know for the next exam. He was still struggling a little with the details of the electron transport chain, but by the end of the session he had mastered most of the material. He should do well on his next exam if he continues to review the information we went over.

Science Tutoring review by Christopher in Bridgeport, CT
Tonight was my first session with the student. We talked in general on the kinds of problems she may have on her exam tomorrow. Specifically, we looked at falling bodies in 1 and 2 dimensions. We worked on a projectile motion problem; we solved a related rates problem where a stone was dropped in a well and the echo was heard to find the depth of the well. I also asked her if she had any questions, and she asked how to tell if the acceleration was positive or negative, and the answer was that it depended on her choice of reference, which she understood. From the sound of things, it looks like her physics teacher is giving very difficult homework problems, which may not reflect the exam he will give. We also worked on a few conceptual problems, along with the reason that the answer was true or false.
