Geometry Tutoring review by Hayley in Layton, UT
Today we reviewed her homework. She is now working on calculating surface area of regular shapes. She seems to have a good grasp of the material so I did not think further practice was necessary. I did help her to figure out some of the more unusual shapes, but once I gave her a few hints on how to solve, she was very capable of applying those strategies to subsequent problems.

The student practiced many problems where he had to use the formula for finding the volume of a cone: (pi x r^2 x h)/3. With almost all of these exercises, he had to use the Pythagorean theorem or special right triangles to find the height of the cone. Other cone problems asked him to find the radius or diameter given the volume. He is doing an excellent with this topic!

Geometry Tutoring review by Kelly in Layton, UT
Today the student and I continued our work on proving congruent triangles. We added more theorems, including Hypotenuse-Leg, and did additional practice problems. Once she felt comfortable with these types of questions, we moved on to circles, arcs, and angles. We reviewed 5 general scenarios, and did a few practice problems. We will have 2 more sessions before her exam, so we will spend the remaining time finishing up working with circles, and then focus exclusively on practicing exam questions.

The student needed a quick refresher on the material that he learned. We went over the student's large study packet and he had many practice problems to prepare him for his exam.
