Math Tutoring review by Nick in Layton, UT
Tonight the student and I worked on her math and school application work. I reviewed some concepts with her on the distributive property and combining like terms. We also filled out a resume for her new school.

Math Tutoring review by Sheena in Layton, UT
She was feeling fine about her math midterm, and we reviewed primarily with old tests. Particularly, we covered real-life problems on the coordinate plane and percent proportions. She is mindful that her biggest challenge on the test will be to go slow enough for her to answer all the questions thoroughly and correctly.

Math Tutoring review by Jasminne in Layton, UT
The student didn't have any homework, so we worked on his math extension activities. We created a memory flash card game based on shapes and angles. He seems to have a difficult time with spatial recognition, and I had to help him come up with shapes that had acute and obtuse angles. We also worked on creating a concentration game for clocks and telling time. He does really well with telling time, so this exercise was easy for him. I had to leave before he finished the cards, so that was his only extra assignment.

Math Tutoring review by Connor in Layton, UT
The student and I worked on her homework, which covered the fundamental theorem of calculus. We also discussed her final and the score which she received. She was not very pleased with her score of 70, but she understand that the only thing she can do now is improve on her next test, which is next week. I requested that she look at the final and that she writes down some of the problems that she did wrong. This is because the teacher will not let her take the test home. In regards to the homework, she came prepared and it showed in how well she picked up the material. We made it about three quarters of the way through her homework before the session finished out. We set goals, and now we have to work towards achieving them.

Math Tutoring review by Alexa in Layton, UT
This session the student and I reviewed solving for x by cross-multiplication. We put an emphasis on working with problems in which each proportion had fractions within them. I wrote out a list of steps for her to follow when given such a problem. She often gets caught up in the fractions, having some difficulty reducing them and multiplying them. From there, we worked on her homework, which also dealt with proportions, line graphs, slopes, etc. We have discovered some new topics that she may have missed from the beginning of the year. In our next session, we will review these (reciprocals, slopes, equation of a line). In a more general sense, she needs to work on writing everything down. Each of her steps, no matter how small or easy she may think they are, need to get written down on her paper. This is something we've incorporated into all of our sessions and will continue to do so in future sessions as well.

Math Tutoring review by Thalia in Layton, UT
We studied today for a math quiz and a science quiz that he has. The math quiz is on solving equations. He needed help particularly with fractions, so we spent a while working on those. We then studied phase changes for his science class.
