Watching how you respond to a question shows me how much of the problem you already know how to solve, and what parts are still difficult. You try and get through the easier parts, and I'll help you with the hard parts. My goal is to get you 100% independent.

Writing empowers you. I know that can be hard to believe. Most assignments can feel arbitrary, many classes pretend that composition is detached from purpose or audience, and written work can feel like jumping through hoops. As a result, our current approach to composition often teaches students the rules while also teaching them to hate writing.I believe a better path is possible. My focus is teaching students to master the technical aspect of writing (especially for academic assignments), learn to love the process of composition, and understand how writing well will help them reach their own goals. Everyone has a voice, and my goal is to help students find that voice and understand how the craft of writing can help them share it.I believe in engaged learning practices, and had the opportunity to work with Dr. Anton Tolman to write a book on this topic. My work as a TA, creative writing community leader, and tutor have given me extensive experience in working with students one on one to craft truly excellent essays. That said, I keep the ball in the student's court. It's never enough to help students get through assignments. Instead, it is my goal to help them gain all the tools they need to tackle the work on their own in the future.

I am a licensed Physician Assistant Certified. I have my BLS, ACLS and PALS in addition to Wilderness Medicine. I have been practicing over 13 years and am currently practicing in Emergency Medicine.I am currently enrolled in the DMSc program at Lynchburg University and will finish my Doctorate in 2021.On the side, I am the owner of LT Medical Legal Consultants and review malpractice cases

I have always had a passion for helping other people. I discovered that education was one area where I could do this when I was in high school. I began to realize that I communicate well with others and that I enjoy explaining and teaching concepts.I started to tutor younger students, and I realized that I love it! I love seeing the progress that people make, and being able to help people get over challenges that they never thought they could get over.I take a hands-on, enabling approach to tutoring. I always give my students the opportunity to figure something out themselves, and when they struggle, I coach them through the problem, enabling them to discover methods and patterns themselves. I find that this method of tutoring leads to the longest-lasting learning, and the highest satisfaction for both me and the student.Outside of academics, I love music (listening to and making it), sports (especially football and volleyball), and entrepreneurship. I have many business ideas, some of which are in the works, and others which I hope to be able to make realities in the future.

I am currently a rising junior at Carleton College where I am majoring in physics and minoring in mathematics. My current area of research is in soft matter and optics. At Carleton, I work as a problem solving facilitator in the physics department and as Makerspance manager, where I help students with projects ranging from sewing to electronics. I most enjoy tutoring physics, closely followed by math. In both of these subjects, I believe problem solving, both guided and independent is an ideal way to learn and solidify skills. Additionally, training a critical thinking and problem solving mindset is key to successfully approaching and solving new problems on the fly.

I am a graduate of The University of Guayaquil. I received my Bachelor of Sciences in Social Communication from my hometown in Ecuador. Since I was a little girl, I dreamed of teaching and being in contact with others. My passion is to teach and help people develop and strengthen their knowledge and language skills. Gratitude for teaching is the basis of all the values that exist in my teaching plan. I have taught children of various ages; I have had the opportunity to help and teach struggling students. In my spare time I enjoy reading, playing with my daughter, the good weather and a picnic with my family. I also like to do yoga to complete my day.

I graduated from the University of Oregon and received a B.S. in Chemistry with departmental honors (2013-2016). My favorite subjects to teach include general chemistry and organic chemistry. I enjoy teaching because most times the subject is underappreciated. Teaching allows me to be the spokesperson for subjects and I can improve the relationship students have with difficult subjects. Recently, I have been a teaching assistant for chemistry labs and begung to shape my teaching style. The way I engage students is by having students bring questions to me, so we can discuss the problem. I typically prefer to have discussions over lectures because it is more engaging for students to have conversations about the material than listen to me talk about the subject. When students bring me questions, I normally will break the question into smaller chunks to help the student identify the hardest part of the problem. Once the problem is identified we would discuss this problem to make sure the issue is resolved. This method helps maximize the usefulness of the sessions by making the student aware of their weak points, so they can improve outside of the tutorting sessions. Outside of academia I indulge in the outdoors by running, swimming, snorkeling, hiking, and snowboarding.

I also believe that we can do hard things if we put our minds to it. For example, I chose to study Spanish and became fluent in college, without having to go on a study abroad.If we use our resources, work hard, and do our best, everything will work out. I've seen this principle in action throughout my life. I have an AAS is Arts and Sciences, a BS in Home and Family Living with a minor in Spanish, and an MA in Hispanic Linguistics. Since I graduated in 2013, I also spent two years working for FamilySearch.org and two years as a middle school teacher. Believe me; it was hard, but it was absolutely worth the work to be able to tutor now!
