Elementary Math Tutoring review by Catrina in Cranston, RI
I helped the student with deciding decimals by identifying the unit of measurement as the divisor. I also helped her with a few strategies in math that allow her to make educated guesses to solve problems.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Kendra in Cranston, RI
Today we did the corrections from the student's recent test. Several of the problems he missed were due to some simple mistakes, such as adding instead of multiplying fractions. He also made some mistakes by trying to guess patterns/ skip steps. We went through all of the problems, made the corrections, and wrote explanations of how to do the problems. Most of them he was able to find his own mistakes. There were, however, a few problems, including one with a vertical number line and absolute values, and another problem where he had to expand a shape by 150 percent, that he really struggled with. We broke these down into manageable pieces and I reviewed all the concepts. We spent the last 15 minutes of the session working on his spelling words for the spelling bee.

Today was my first session with the student. We covered a few worksheets on long division. She had a hard time with placements of the numbers at first, but she did very well calculating. I am looking forward to meeting with her in the future!

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Rachel in Cranston, RI
Today we began with addition and subtraction flash cards. The student got every single one correct which she was very excited about! Following this, she worked on a page where she had to graph data, and we further discussed horizontal/ x-axis and vertical/ y-axis. After this she did a page on deciding which operation (subtraction or addition) to use to complete a word problem. Next time we meet, we might begin working on multiplication.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Toni in Cranston, RI
The student and I worked on fractions and renaming them using whole numbers and fractional parts left over. He is struggling with the concept but that is very common. We also reviewed multiplication with two by two digits. He did very well on that. He worked very hard for the time I was there. Considering the time of year, I am very happy!

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Heather in Cranston, RI
For this session, the student and I reviewed the homework I left her from last time. She did great and got all correct. We then reviewed her last two homework assignments from class. The homework expanded on fractions; adding and subtracting mixed fractions in particular. She had a bit of trouble with the word problems, but got the basic concepts of mixed fractions very well. She worked while keeping her cheerful personality, which made the session more fun and easier to go over the problems. I left her with a homework sheet that reviewed converting mixed fractions to improper fractions, and adding/ subtracting mixed fractions, due for next session.
