Elementary Math Tutoring review by Audrey in Waltham, MA
The student's teacher is giving him daily assignment sheets. He said he turned in his homework from last week. Today's homework was to write his Chapter 3 vocabulary words, their definitions and a picture. He was able to complete all during the session. We had time to review square numbers, and he was able to successfully say the square numbers up to 12 x 12.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Meghan in Waltham, MA
The student and I worked on reviewing for her upcoming skills assessment and test in Math. She is very strong in mixed number multiplication and division, but was behind in distributing and factoring to create equivalent expressions. We practiced many though to make sure she felt comfortable. We also went over the plant cell and the organelle functions within it.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Aaron in Waltham, MA
The student had several questions about homework. He and I spent some time on those questions, and then we transitioned over to material that I brought with me. We really focused on dividing a number with a exponent by the same number with another exponent. For example: 5 to power of 6 divided by 5 to power of 3. In this case, you would subtract the exponents (top minus bottom, 6 - 3), and you're left with 5 to power of 3 as the answer. We then moved into some more complicated problems dealing with this same mathematical principles. After doing several of these practice problems, the student then remembered that he had more homework so we worked on that. All in all, he is a tremendous math student and a fast learner.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Michael in Waltham, MA
I reviewed the setup of a proportion problem that was left for the student to complete from the last session. She is very smart and has a good memory, so she quickly figures out how to compare patterns to one another, which is great. I'm attempting to push her even further so that she begins to learn that such comparisons can be written in "math", displayed all at once in one single equation and solved very efficiently by doing so.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Michael in Waltham, MA
The student and I started by addressing issues she was having with division with decimals, and long division. I gave her organizational tools for long division. We then moved on to the class she was taking, intermediate algebra, and addressed concerns she was having. For this class, she wanted to focus on the upcoming test, so she provided practice exams that were given by the teacher. We went through 10 problems so she would feel comfortable computing long processes. The student became more confident as she successfully completed problems. The topics we covered included solving equations, systems of equations, and simple interest. The student was left with practice exam questions.
