Hello! I am an Emory University graduate with a B.S. in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology. While my academic background gives me the tools to effectively tutor in maths and sciences, my love of reading and the humanities bestows me with the unique ability to also excel in reading comprehension and composition.Throughout college, I tutored high school students in all sections of the SAT and other school subjects. I developed a true appreciation for working with students to not only improve their grades, but also their confidence and mindset. Making sure the students' goals align with my goals (and, of course, the parents' goals!) gives the student the internal motivation and drive that is required to apply the insight gained at a tutoring session to every day academic performance. I am absolutely confident that any student can find what motivates them and gain valuable knowledge that both raises the grade or score and aids in improvement across the board.Outside of tutoring, I have a passion for food, movies, and health (or anything that encompasses all three!). I also love traveling and hope to have the opportunity to do so many times in the future.

I am a recently graduated Kenyon College math and economics major. The depth of my engagement in math and economics over the past several years have made me knowledgable and enthusiastic about those subjects, and I would love the opportunity to impart my knowledge and enthusiasm to young scholars.I also have had the opportunity to write numerous research papers, analytical english essays, and mathematical expositions and proofs during my undergraduate career. Doing so, I honed my writing and editing skills.I believe that the best way to learn is by struggling. As a tutor, I would encourage students to work independently, teaching concepts rather than explicit solutions. I spent time working as an assistant teacher at an elementary school and am comfortable working with all ages.

I currently attend UCF and double major in Computer Engineering and Mathematics. I chose to tutor because, being a student, I know how frustrating it can be to not fully understand a topic being taught, and to possibly perform poorly in the class because of that. What is most important to me when it comes to tutoring is making sure the student feels comfortable. I like to go at the pace of the student and make sure the student fully understands a topic before moving on to the next one. I specifically chose to tutor math because I have always had a passion for math, and also because I have a strong understanding of math concepts.

I feel my function is to prepare students for the next step, kind of like a minor league coach. It's going to burn a little, but it will absolutely be worth it in the end.

Originally hailing from Manhattan, where I attended the Brearley School, I eventually moved to rural Vermont where I grew up on a farm. In Vermont I competitively ski raced and played on the Varsity Tennis team. I attended Middlebury College, class of 2015, where I majored in Economics and minored in French. Throughout high school and college I have tutored an extremely diverse group of clients ranging from language study for adults, test preparation for rising seniors, and peer tutoring at the college level. This past year I worked on staff as the part time geometry tutor at Red Cedar Middle School. I have three siblings and I love young children. I worked as a camp counselor at Aloha Hive in Fairlee Vermont the summer of 2012. I'm excited to meet you, and am happy to provide additional references and answer any of your questions.

I have recently obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with minors Computer Science and Neuroscience. I currently work in a social neuroscience lab doing psychological research and very much enjoy this branch of experimental psychology. For the last two years I have regularly tutored online, helping students primarily in late middle and high school reach their academic goals. More recently I have worked with first year college students and adult learners. I am extremely passionate about psychology, but I also really enjoy tutoring English. Literary analysis can be fun, I promise! When I am tutoring a student, I try to relate to him or her on a more friendly and personal level; it is important to me that my students understand I am accessible and there to help, not to intimidate them or make them uncomfortable and confused. I feel that this makes it much easier for a student to approach me with questions or a simple I have no idea whats going on in this math problem. When it comes to standardized testing, I firmly believe that test-taking is a skill in and of itself the SAT, for example, tests ones math and verbal abilities, but it also tests your ability to take the SAT, which is a skill that can be taught and practiced. Outside of academics, I enjoy participating in on-campus theater, folding origami, and baking.

I graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics and Physical Science and Master's degree in Computational Science. Though I now have an in-depth understanding of mathematics topics ranging from elementary-level work to advanced college courses, math did not come easily to me in middle or high school. The same is true for programming; my now-extensive experience began with a confused and overwhelmed college freshman. I am a firm believer that every student is capable of success in STEM courses at any age, but that different students require different styles and paces of teaching, as was my case. I greatly value working with each individual to figure out a learning method that will lead them toward success and hope my near-decade of tutoring experience has allowed me to develop the tools needed to get them there.

I graduated from Case Western Reserve University in 2012 with a BA insociology with honors. I greatly enjoyed my time at CWRU, and I wasinvolved in groups such as Women in Liberal Arts and the ResidentialHousing Association???s Community Involvement Committee. I becameinvolved in sociology research in elderly health care at CWRU, where Igained a love of data analysis. Because of that, I completed apost-baccalaureate program at Cleveland State University last year, and next August I will be going to graduate school for an MPH inepidemiology. I???ve been accepted to Emory and University ofMichigan-Ann Arbor so far, and I???m waiting on the other schools I???veapplied to. I???m really excited to start my career in epidemiology, andI???m not even sure how I???ll decide which school to attend!I???ve been tutoring since 2009; for the last six years, I haveprivately tutored junior high to graduate level students in all typesof subjects: from algebra to to biology to history to statistics. I???veparticularly tutored many high school students, where I tutor nearlyall aspects of their curriculum. I have tutored extensively in ACT/SATpreparation, with private and professional experience. I also workedfor a year at the Cleveland State Writing Center, where I helpedcollege students improve their writing skills. I love tutoring in allits forms, but I am particularly passionate about ACT/SAT prep, writing, and high school math. Writing has always been a passion ofmine, and I feel like it is applicable to so many parts of life. It isalso so fulfilling to see a student improve on the ACT/SAT, makingmeasurable changes and gaining confidence. I???ve always enjoyed math aswell, and I enjoy showing students how math can be interesting andfun. My tutoring style is really student-focused. I very much strive totailor my tutoring to each student???s needs, as every student is uniquein their needs and preferences. I work towards full comprehension, talking through their thinking processes, and helping them learnthrough their own mechanisms. I teach them the skills, strategies, andcontent, and I give students the confidence to utilize these toimprove their studies. I reinforce the foundations of what they arelearning, and particularly in test prep, I make sure students have allthe important strategies down. I try and build camaraderie with mystudents, making sure they feel comfortable and realize that I toowent through the stressful process of school, whether it be juniorhigh, high school, or college. When I am not working or in school, I really value my free time. Ienjoy crafting and sewing, and am working on dresses and earrings. Ilove watching documentaries and listening to podcasts. I like readinga lot of nonfiction, particularly sociology and science, whether it bebooks or articles. I like exploring Cleveland, such as trying newfood, going to exhibits, and anything from bowling to arcades.
