Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Audreyana in Meriden, CT
Today, we went over a unit practice exam for stoichiometry and gas laws. The student did quite well on the test. We then moved onto a new unit: thermochemistry. She had never covered this material before, so I did a truncated lesson on the material, covering only items she needed to complete her assignment.

Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Cara in Meriden, CT
We did elastic and inelastic collisions involving conservation of momentum, and also a few more problems involving rotational motion. We discussed force of tension and its acting to create angular acceleration. We also discussed equal and opposite forces and computed impulse (due to a collision that becomes inelastic) and how impulse is equal to the mass of the object times the change in velocity or the force imparted on the object times the time the force acts on the object. The student is always a pleasure to teach and she picks everything up very quickly.

Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Christian in Meriden, CT
Covered ideal gas properties and went over application of concepts to word problems. One main strategy that we stressed was the importance to always write everything down from the problem. Mostly has trouble starting a problem, but had a good understanding of the concepts used in each problem. I felt as the time went on the student understood how to approach a problem, but needs to do the problems again on a separate paper without looking at the work we did together. This way he can see if he can do the problems on his own. He is motivated and doesn't give up when faced at a dead end. He will finish the problem sets on his own before next session and I too will have them done.

Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Scott in Meriden, CT
We spent a few minutes finishing up with the worksheet, and then we started working on reviewing for the potential test the student will be taking soon. I started by asking a lot of basic questions related to gravity and related all of them to electricity. I introduced him to the circle and pyramid system for remembering the relationship between constants and equations.

Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Charles in Meriden, CT
The student and I spent most of the physics review session working on his final (standardized) test for physics -- focusing on the topics of momentum, energy and their conservation laws and applications. We worked on both multiple choice (plus an explanation for the answer choice) and free-response-type problems. I think he has a pretty solid grasp of the concepts, and his application to problems has progressed really solidly over the last few months. His time-sensitive work is also much improved -- and better reflection of his underlying and important understanding of the material and physics concepts. He really has been a great student and learner, and it has been a pleasure to work with him. Thank you.

Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Sid in Meriden, CT
We went over sample questions for the preparation for final exams. We emphasized chemical bonding and intermolecular forces a bit more than other topics. The student was confusing H-bonding with a real bond (a common confusion). We clarified the differences.
