I am a graduate of the University of Connecticut, with degrees in biology and psychology with a concentration in neuroscience. I am a certified high school science teacher, and have spent the past three years teaching high school chemistry, first with Teach for America in Oklahoma City, followed by one of the top performing charter schools in Connecticut. In addition to working full time as a high school teacher, I have tutored a vast range of ages from elementary, middle, and college students. I am extremely passionate about science education, because I think that it is one of the largest gaps in our current education system. There is so much potential to frame science in an engaging and exciting manner, but too often students are left to struggle on their own! In my personal experience, I have found that incorporating multiple external resources such as models, simulations, demonstrations or even virtual labs can fundamentally change a students achievement and investment when compared to just reading a text and answering questions.
