Biography
...as a tutor is not to teach someone how to solve a problem or pass a test, but to teach the essential knowledge needed to succeed in a course beyond the raw grade. I believe that through a holistic assessment of a subject, it will be easier for someone to learn how to accomplish tasks related to that subject in the future. I hope to get students to a point where they are self-sustaining.

Bellingham IB World Religions SL Tutoring FAQ
Weighty subjects can make for difficult studies. This is certainly the case with topics like those covered in the International Baccalaureate World Religions course. If you are preparing to take the IB exam papers for this course, don't start without the guidance of a skilled instructor. If you are a student who needs supplementary material to understand what has been reviewed in the classroom, then you could benefit from working with a private tutor. Because the nature of IB classes is fast-paced and comprehensive, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and stuck. Rather than question your academic plans or risk hurting your grade, try studying with a personal tutor who is experienced in explaining complex material in a manner that is easily understood.
Varsity Tutors is happy to help you connect with a private tutor in your area who can assist you in studying IB World Religions SL. Your tutor is dedicated to helping you build both skill and confidence when facing your IB coursework, and can provide you with a number of tips and tricks that can help prepare you for test day.
Learning the ins and outs of the world's religions can be overwhelming, even to the most experienced and well-traveled students. The historical heritages of many nations and cultures are so complex that it takes a knowledgeable guide to navigate through these cultural traditions of worship and worldview. Your tutor can provide you with just such guidance, and can help you develop an appreciation for the content while doing so.
IB World Religions tutors are skilled teachers who can help you review the content of your particular class, as well as integrate your knowledge with other social and historical contexts to help you succeed on the analytical challenges presented by the papers on examination day. Whether you have heavily focused on themes of the Judeo-Christian family of religions, have meditated on the speculations and devotions of non-Western faiths, or have undertaken a thorough review of a number of ancient religious backgrounds, we can help you find the perfect tutor for your review needs. A personal tutor is a valuable resource for such times of preparation, challenging you to think more critically and thoroughly on the topics pertinent to your examination preparation. Likewise, a personal tutor can help you augment your essay-writing skills by providing you with critiques and practice writing that can help you focus your self-expression for maximal effect on examination day.
Working with a private tutor provides a number of benefits that aren't extended to students who learn only in the classroom. For example, students who work with personal tutors are able to benefit from a customizable lesson plan that is tailored to complement their strengths while helping them overcome their weaknesses. Moreover, students who work with personal tutors have control over the direction each lesson goes, and can slow down the pace when covering difficult material, as well as completely skip over concepts that they are already familiar with. Because of this, tutoring is one of the most efficient ways to supplement classroom learning.
Whether you need a full review or would only like to prepare quickly before test day, you should consider finding a tutor for your IB World Religions course. Find help in preparing for your exam papers with IB World Religions SL tutoring. Contact Varsity Tutors today and ask us to connect you with a tutor in your area. Recent Bellingham IB World Religions SL Tutoring Session Notes
We discussed European Imperialism in the 19th century, including the scramble for Africa, the Opium Wars, and the Boxer Rebellion. The student also got his midterm score back. He did acceptably well on the multiple choice and short answer sections, getting 80% correct. He has resolved to study more seriously for the final.
Tonight, the student and I continued to review for the state test that will be taking place next week. The topics we covered were: the Civil Rights Movement, Georgia at the end of the 20th century, citizenship, and the branches of government. I left four more quizzes with her for review.
The biggest piece of advice I left her with was that she needs to read each question thoroughly and carefully before selecting an answer. The few questions that she got incorrect were due to haste rather than not knowing the information. If she can keep that in check, she should do well on the test next week.
We finished two assignments from his review packet on the Civil War. I quizzed him at the end to make sure he was beginning to understand the material. I did not leave him with any practice, and I did not see any grades as he had no tests as of recent.
Today we reviewed the student's US history work- he is learning about the Jacksonian Era- and the treatment of Native Americans during that time. The increase of slavery, due to the growth of the cotton industry, and the 2nd National bank make up the politics of that era. He seems to have a grasp of the material. We practiced writing, complete sentences and addressing ALL parts of a question, through responses to my follow up questions. He wrote a short story.
We discussed how to read historical writing in order to find information for an essay. We also discussed how to write a clear argument that avoids repetition while it also makes a strong case with ample evidence. I gave him some advice on how to write in a lively manner by using effective evidence that proves different aspects of his thesis without repeating the same arguments. He will write a short essay on the relationship between Thomas Edison's business sense, inventiveness, and reputation for the next session.
We reviewed key terms and ID's from her unit on pre WWII Germany. Then, from a list of 5 over-arching questions, we placed each ID under the corresponding question to help her frame where she can talk about each ID in an essay. No extra practice other than to study.
