I graduated from Virginia Tech in 2014 with a B.Sc. in Wildlife Science and a minor in theater. Through my major's professional society, I taught in Virginia schools at a variety of age levels, from elementary to high school. All lesson plans I created (in subjects like geology, oceanography, evolution, etc.) adhered to "Standards Of Learning" set by the state of Virginia. Since graduating I have been an interpretive naturalist at Croydon Creek Nature Center in Rockville, MD, a teaching fellow at the New York Aquarium in Brooklyn, NY, and now I work within the Education Department at the American Museum of Natural History in Manhattan, NY. Given my background in the natural sciences, my favorite subjects to teach include environmental science, ecology, and biology. What I love about teaching is making seemingly difficult concepts easy to comprehend by applying them to real world scenarios. I firmly believe that all students can thrive when lessons are tailored to their learning styles. When my students succeed, I succeed. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, wildlife watching, and a good sci-fi movie.

Currently pursuing a B.S. in Physics at Georgia Tech, I have worked as a private tutor for a range of subjects including physics, math, and introductory computer science. I am fluent in French and am open to working with students of all ages. I am flexible in my approaches in teaching and place a large emphasis on adapting my tutoring style to the student in order to embrace every unique learning style. My journey from math-fearing middle schooler to calculus lover and physics major has taught me that all it takes is the right approach to learn a subject that is difficult, and I want to help others reach their full potential in subjects they are hesitant about!

I am a current ELA Middle School Teacher in New York City. I have provided whole and small group reading instruction aligned to the Common Core Standards. Before moving to New York in late 2011, I completed my Master's degree at Boston University in Teaching and Curriculum.Teaching is not only instructional but social, and it is rooted in building relationships. While it is important to be firm, it's equally important to have a relationship with students and parents. My philosophy stems from years of public service after college. In 2008 I was a corps member at City Year Boston in which I taught literacy to disadvantaged students. Soon after, I joined Teach For America in 2009 as a corps member and worked in the Boston Public School system. I was lucky enough to teach a range of grades (Grade 2-8) in both public and private school settings.I enjoy teaching, moreover I love READING! Literacy is my passion. Teaching kids to read is a difficult task; there is no one magic bullet. There are many factors I target while teaching or supporting a struggling/reluctant reader. I also try to instill a joy of reading to struggling/reluctant readers by exposing the student to different types of literature and using other methods. I tutor students as an opportunity to reach more students and support them with reading. I look forward to working with your child.

I am a graduate of Wayne State University and Central Michigan University. Prior to the country being shut down due to COVID-19, I was taking classes at Oakland County Community College to keep up with my soft skills and business skills. I have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a Master of Administration in Science Degree. I have enough credits to get an associate in Education and Business Administration. Currently, I spend a lot of time studying physics as it relates to the human body and how the human body functions. I am in the process of obtaining a Health Coaching Certification.I have been a substitute teacher in the Detroit Michigan area in the past. Also, I have tutored students in as part of supporting the program "No Child Left Behind" through Tutor Mates. I am passionate about physics. My motto is math is vital and important, and physics makes the world churn. It is foundational to everything we do on this planet and in this universe.I have learned that there are multiple learning styles and I like to meet students where they are to explore and bring out their learning style. This is typically a pivot point from going to struggling to grasping concepts. There is a point when the light bulb comes on, and it is an exhilarating experience for both the student and the teacher or coach.

Hello! I am a former Environmental Manager, Real Estate Broker and most importantly, Tutor. I realize these are not the most similar of positions. I have tutored extensively within CPS through the Sit Stay Read non-profit among other organizations. I have tutored many kids with unique and different learning styles. I have also tutored ESL with Heartland Alliance. I graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana ( a few years ago) having studied Political Science and Biology. What else? I am the proud mom of two magnificent kids with learning disabilities. I also write slightly less informative reviews on Yelp, as a style decision. I am a music enthusiast, run most days ( my HS track coach would be quite surprised by that), and believe in perseverance.

I am a graduate of the University of Southern Indiana, where I received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Teaching. I have experience teaching both high school and middle school math. I am passionate about all areas of math, and I love helping students better understand math because it is such an essential subject. I especially enjoy teaching algebra classes because algebra is an important building block for all other math concepts. Helping a student understand a math concept that they have struggled with for so long brings me an immense amount of joy. I like to use visuals and hands-on activities when teaching, but most importantly, I like to discover what my students' individual learning styles are and teach to their specific needs.

I recently graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Mathematics and Economics as well as a B.A. in Philosophy. This fall, I will be continuing my studies at the University of Michigan as I pursue a PhD in Economics, and I hope to work as a professor in applied microeconomics after completing my degree. While economics is what I am most passionate about, I have also really enjoyed studying mathematics, which I was able to pursue extensively as an undergraduate. As a tutor, I hope not only to push my students to excel but also to help them begin to enjoy their studies as well (as difficult as that may be for high school students!). In line with my aspirations to work in higher education, I believe that education is an incredibly important and rewarding endeavor, and I look forward to watching my students succeed. In my spare time, I enjoy running, reading and cooking.
