In 2011 I received my Masters Degree in International Development from Tulane University. I did my undergraduate work at Oral Roberts University, and I received a BA in Communications and a Minor in Spanish. I have been teaching at the K-8 level for the past eleven years, teaching a variety of subjects from English to Math to Social Studies. This upcoming school year I will be tackling a new challenge--teaching Jr. High Spanish. I am currently Highly Qualified in Spanish and looking forward to helping others become bilingual.
I have had the privilege of teaching at public, private and charter schools, including a two-year stint in the Dominican Republic. Because I have seen so many different educational strategies and philosophies at work, I am able to glean the best techniques from each strategy and implement them in my teaching/tutoring. I am an advocate of the Love & Logic philosophy of classroom management, and I am a firm believer that each student must be treated as an individual. I strive to find the strategy that works best for each student, realizing that there are many different kinds of learning styles. I am happily married, own two dogs, and I love to play sports, hike, travel (I've been to Asia, Central & South America, and Africa) and read articles about theology and the international economic arena. In 2010 I was accepted into a program at Oxford University in London. Due to family reasons, I was unable to attend, but I hope to one day fulfill my dream of either earning my PhD from Tulane or studying at Oxford. I look forward to helping your child fulfill his/her educational dream.
