The High School Placement Test, or HSPT, is an assessment that is given by Catholic private schools twice a year, in the spring and fall. It measures students' skills in topics such as reading, math, and language. The results are used by the private schools to help make admissions decisions. The HSPT is given to students in eighth grade, and each question is worth one point; there is no penalty for incorrect answers. There are several versions of the exam in use. The main sections of the exam include language, which is 60 questions; math, which contains 64 questions, quantitative skills; which includes 52 questions; reading, which is 62 questions; and verbal skills, which consists of 60 questions.
