History Tutoring review by Alysa in Minneapolis, MN
The student has a history exam tomorrow. We reviewed the key terms. She used her summaries and PowerPoint slides to study. We reviewed the practice quiz they took in class. We also did practice quizzes on the Jefferson Era. She was able to talk through the majority of the terms and people. The rest of the night should be spent reviewing details. She definitely has the major topics mastered.

History Tutoring review by Samantha in Minneapolis, MN
The main topic for today's essay was a midterm essay for History. The essay focused on John Adams and Thomas Jefferson's and their friendship throughout life and their political efforts. Letters between the two were examined. The beliefs and views of each of them were addressed along side with their friendship despite their political differences. We then completed an assignment that focused on the success of the Louisiana Purchase, John Sutter and the discovery of gold, the Gold Rush and the role of women and immigrants during that time period. The lesson ended with the outlining of her midterm assignment for her English class in which she has to write an essay comparing and contrasting to types of organizational essays.

History Tutoring review by John in Minneapolis, MN
Today, the student and I primarily read articles about the Industrial Revolution, specifically in regard to changes in technology, business methods, and urbanization. She seems to be getting better at retaining information, particularly with shorter passages. In the long term, we will continue to address how to recognize the most important pieces of information and how to make generalized notes.

History Tutoring review by Whitney in Minneapolis, MN
During today's session we reviewed the topic of slope for math. The student did an excellent job with the calculations, but made small errors when copying the problem/creating the equations. We discussed this briefly. We also worked on reading comprehension with current event news articles. After reading the article, I had the student answer some basic comprehension questions and then make some text-to-life connections. Her and I discussed her current project in history class (blog). When we meet later in the week, we will review all of the content of her project.

History Tutoring review by Janae in Minneapolis, MN
During this session, the student and I covered mostly history and a little bit of English. We specifically went over the Louisiana Purchase. We first looked at the characters and then I had her discern each character's role in the Purchase and their motives. She grasped onto the Louisiana Purchase very well and was later able to tell me the story. I also did a reading check with her by having her complete a quiz that I created to make sure that she was understanding the story of To Kill a Mockingbird.
