Session Summaries by GMAT Tutors

GMAT Tutoring review by Perry in Minneapolis, MN
Last night the student and I reviewed the timed science test he did in between our last session and this session. His score is improving in the science section. He has scored higher than his original score on the practice science test on  the majority of the science tests he has taken with me.  Next we went on to the reading portion of the test. Judging from the score report, this was his strongest area.  We went through the sample passages and the sample questions preceding the practice tests. Before our meeting today, he is going to complete a practice timed reading section.

For this session, we went over a few subjects of difficulty for the student including: The difference between "estar" and "ser", Interrogatives, direct-object pronouns and indirect object pronouns. I quizzed her orally and gave her some practice problems in which I guided her through, and then we corrected them together. The student is getting a better understanding of the language.

First we went over a sample AWA he wrote; I added comments and suggestions about how to brainstorm logical flaws in the argument, and he will review these comments later and do some further practice AWAs. Second we finished the Integrated Reasoning section in the text; the student will need to work the practice drill in the textbook to further consolidate this material. Finally we had some time left over which we used to briefly go over some Reading Comprehension material. I gave him some general advice for math and verbal and then we ended the session.
