I have a Master's degree in Education from Grand Canyon University. I found my passion in assisting students to achieve that "lightbulb" moment. Since graduating I have worked primarily in reading and math. I have a love of reading that I want to share with others, as well as the creative outlet of writing. I struggled with math when I was in junior high, so I have a great deal of patience with students who struggle, and am willing to find ways to make subjects more understandable to students. My biggest hobby in life is reading. I have found great joy in expressing myself in writing, and very happy when I can assist students in expressing themselves in this same way. I have always felt that every child is capable of success, and I desire to help each individual achieve their personal best in all subjects. I find history fascinating, and try to help others appreciate it as well. I also enjoy puzzles and crochet, as well as taking the dogs for walks.

I am a graduate of Grand Canyon University where I obtained my Master's Degree in Education Administration/School Leadership. I have been in education for 23 years and have tutored students throughout these years. My background is teaching students with disabilities. I also work with adults teaching ESOL during the evening/night hours. I enjoy teaching students reading strategies because reading is a fundamental skill that everyone must have and many students struggle in this area. I also enjoy teaching students test taking strategies. Students have to take many test and assessments therefore they need to be taught the proper strategies to use when taking test. During my leisure time, I enjoy listening to music, nice walks in the park, reading or listening to an audio book and spending time with my family and friends.

I have been a math teacher for the past 3.5 years, teaching a wide range of courses including Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, College Algebra, and 7th8th grade math. Over that time, I've worked with students at many different skill levels, from those building foundational skills to those preparing for college-level math. I became a teacher because I noticed a growing concern in the United States around declining math performance, and I wanted to be part of the solution. In college, I realized I wanted a career where I could make a real, measurable difference in people's lives. While working part-time at Grand Canyon University during my degree program, I discovered how much I enjoy helping others learn and build confidence. Combining that with my natural strength in math and passion for teaching led me into education. I believe math is one of the most important skills a person can develop because it directly impacts everyday lifefrom financial decisions to problem-solving and long-term opportunities. My goal is to help students build a strong mathematical foundation that supports them beyond the classroom and helps them avoid unnecessary financial or academic struggles later in life. No matter a student's past experience with math, I believe everyone is capable of success with patience, effort, and the right support. My approach is focused on clarity, encouragement, and breaking down concepts in a way that makes math feel accessible and achievable.

While teaching, I went to school online at Grand Canyon University where I received a Master of Science in Instructional Design. I love to read so this is where my passion lies in teaching. From their I've taught special education inter-related, resource math, general math, science, and math enrichment. As I stand at the threshold of my academic journey, my passion for chemistry burns brightly, illuminating a path towards discovery, innovation, and societal impact. Since my earliest encounters with the periodic table, I have been captivated by the intricate dance of atoms and molecules, drawn to unraveling the mysteries that lie beneath the surface of the physical world. Chemistry, to me, is more than just a subject; it is a lens through which I view the world. From the elegance of organic synthesis to the complexity of quantum mechanics, every aspect of this discipline speaks to my innate curiosity and thirst for knowledge. Through rigorous coursework, laboratory experiments, and independent research endeavors, I have immersed myself in the realm of chemistry, cultivating a deep understanding of its principles and applications. Beyond the confines of the classroom, I have sought to extend my learning into the realm of real-world challenges. Whether it be through internships at leading research institutions or collaborative projects with industry partners, I have embraced every opportunity to apply my theoretical knowledge to practical problems. These experiences have not only honed my technical skills but have also instilled in me a sense of responsibility to leverage science for the betterment of society. One of the most compelling aspects of chemistry, in my view, is its interdisciplinary nature. From environmental sustainability to healthcare innovation, chemistry intersects with a myriad of fields, offering boundless opportunities for exploration and impact. As a chemistry major, I am committed to bridging these disciplinary boundaries, collaborating with peers from diverse backgrounds to tackle the most pressing challenges facing our world today. Looking ahead, I am eager to continue my academic journey in pursuit of a deeper understanding of chemistry and its transformative potential. Whether it be through groundbreaking research, teaching the next generation of scientists, or forging partnerships with industry leaders, I am determined to leave a lasting imprint on the field of chemistry and the world at large. In me, you will find a dedicated scholar, a passionate advocate for scientific inquiry, and a tireless champion for positive change. With a steadfast commitment to excellence and a fervent curiosity that knows no bounds, I am ready to embark on this journey of discovery, armed with the power of chemistry as my guide.

I have aspired to be a teacher since I was a child. My sisters and I would play school all the time. I grew to enjoy helping my peers learn how to understand concepts, and even tutor students younger than myself while I was in high school. My mother fostered my passion for teaching as she inspired me to search for the answers to my questions rather than settling for what was in the textbook. I have never liked to watch a student struggle to understand a concept, so I would find other ways to explain what they could not understand. My first classroom teaching experience began in 1991, in a physical science classroom. I faced ten special needs students who had to pass the end-of-course exam to earn their diplomas. In all of my 31.5 years of education, this was the most stressful, yet most rewarding opportunity. The challenge was great, but we worked as a team to accomplish the learning tasks. Nine of the ten earned their credit. There have been other challenges along the journey; I chose to approach every challenge differently. Every student is different. That requires a different approach to teaching and learning. My Biology degree with Teacher Certification was obtained in 1991 from Pembroke State University, which is now UNC-Pembroke, in Pembroke, North Carolina. In 2008, I obtained my Masters in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University, primarily because I aspired to search for higher employment in education. However, that desire subsided as I dealt with the passing of my mother. In 2010, I regained my love for lifelong learning and entered the Doctoral program of Instructional Leadership at Grand Canyon University. Online learning was enjoyable for me. Between 2010 and 2017, I went through several surgeries that eventually led me to pause that degree. Three chapters of my dissertation were written; maybe I will resume that at some point. I thoroughly enjoy teaching Biology, Physical science, and Earth science. The higher-level sciences are engaging and intriguing; however, I enjoy working with struggling students so I choose to focus on these courses. I have had the honor of teaching honors-level classes, which proved very rewarding as well. The math in these sciences corresponds to basic algebra, so I could tutor algebra as well. I enjoy math and science because students learn to use critical thinking and reasoning skills that will help them with real-life problem-solving. My philosophy has always been simple--Every student can learn, but every student can not learn the same way as another student. Knowing how a student learns is critical to achieving mastery. Presenting the information in various ways, whether physically in the classroom or online, is essential to mastery. Using the internet resources available is a must when striving toward mastery with all students.

I completed my Master's of Education in Special Education at Grand Canyon University on December 2021. The Master's degree in helping students with mild to moderate disabilities. My Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Portland State University. My philosophy is each child has a unique way to learn. Some children are auditory learners, some are visual learners, and others are a combination of both. It is easy to learn in an environment that makes children curious and not afraid to take chances. Children need to use their mental abilities and social skills, take what they learned, and apply it to life learning. A teacher is to guide and help them but not enabling the child by being overly helpful. Children learn best through hands-on activities and exploring their world. I have two quotes that I believe. The first one is, "The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has to own reasoning for existing" By Albert Einstein. The second quote is "Mistakes are proof you are learning" Jennifer Lim.

From there, they'll create a personalized plan to help you succeed, drawing on their own GCU experience to tailor their approach to your needs.
