Calculus Tutoring review by Angi in Lemont, IL
After we worked a couple of problems together, she caught on quickly and did well. The student's nanny brought out a couple of old tests that the student took. I recreated the problems for her (they were mostly over perimeter and area). She missed the problems again and she and I talked about what she missed and why. We spent the rest of the hour working various review problems together to help prepare her for upcoming testing.

Today we covered frequency chart and looked at if the graphs were positive or negatively trending. We also reviewed adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions. I left them with the fractions practices.

This week the student and I went over sequences and series. We talked about the formulas for arithmetic and geometric series and also talked about the formulas for the summation of the series. We went through a bunch of practice problems and the student seemed to have a good grasp of the concepts by the end.

Calculus Tutoring review by Lora in Lemont, IL
We started out by talking about his day and a new species of glass frog that they recently discovered! He was very interested. He then completed two homeworks for math: converting and comparing between kg, g, and mg; then converting and comparing between km, m, and mm. He could quickly solve these in the beginning, but slowed down once they became more difficult. I did notice again that at the 1/2 hour mark, we needed to take a mini break for him to re-focus. He finished his math homework with 15 minutes remaining, so he then worked on his science lab reports. One report was explaining the water cycle process - he needed very little help in explaining this, and wrote a great description of it on his own! Another lab report he had to complete involved plants, but he couldn't remember it, so he couldn't complete it and will be asking his science teacher tomorrow for help. Then, he showed me a fun game at the end!

Calculus Tutoring review by Michael in Lemont, IL
Today the student and I went over the concept of what a radian is and the relationship it has to the radius and the circle. We progressed to converting radians to degrees and degrees to radians. The previously mentioned skills were needed to find the arc length of a circle and the sector area of a circle. The student accomplished a myriad of practice problems successfully which proved she grasped the concept with no issues. I introduced a Trigonometric concept to her regarding finding the 6 trig ratios when given a point on the coordinate plane that the terminal side goes through. I also showed her how to convert radians to degrees and vice-versa using the graphing calculator. I told her to use this method as a check. The student had an extra credit assignment involving logic that we started. We plan on touching base and comparing our solutions within the next day or so.

Calculus Tutoring review by Zachary in Lemont, IL
We spent time discussing how he works through the assignments and where he struggles. He seems to generally understand the concepts he is learning. We are going to focus on having a more regular schedule for completing his assignments. We went through two sections and two quizzes and he did well on both quizzes, only missing answers when he rushed and didn't read the questions thoroughly. I gave him the assignment of finishing the three written assignments he had skipped up to that point and allowed him the option to continue on in his course if he felt like he was understanding the material. I feel confident that we will be able to complete the online course by the deadline and get his grade up from a D to a high C or higher.
