Session Summaries by ACT Math Tutors

ACT Math Tutoring review by Alyssa in Cranston, RI
The student and I focused on math during this session. She did incredibly well! The student seemed much more confident in her ability to answer the questions, as well as which mathematical concepts were required. Memorizing the formulas needed for the test will also help ensure that she gets the "easy" questions that simply require the necessary formula correct.

ACT Math Tutoring review by Caroline in Cranston, RI
The student and I finished up her mock ACT today. Her score was incredible: a 35 in English, 33 in math, 30 in reading, and 32 in science, for a composite score of 33! This is an excellent score and I'm incredibly proud of her. Additionally, we looked at the writing section, and I had her write an essay that I will look over before our next session.

ACT Math Tutoring review by Joseph in Cranston, RI
The student and I started off today by finishing his ACT Math overview, looking at matrices, statistics, and geometry formulas. We also discussed pacing strategies for the Reading, Science, and Writing sections, and went over punctuation rules to help him with the English section. I have assigned a full-length practice test for next week.

ACT Math Tutoring review by Cara in Cranston, RI
We focused primarily on the trigonometry portion of the mathematics exam. In the last half hour, we started to vary our topics more and check the student's competency and memory of older material. He was very eager to work and wanted to get down to business. I emailed him after the session in order to give him more advice on how to handle the math portion and the preparation for it, and with information on where to get more problems. He did relay to me what scores he got on his ACT subsections. All of them were in the mid 20s. He is hoping to raise his composite to around 30. I feel very good about how the session went and think we definitely eased his mind about how much he knows the material and how competent he is at it.

ACT Math Tutoring review by Vidhan in Cranston, RI
Today, I covered ACT science with the student. There was no topic in particular that he struggled with. He mentioned that time management may have been an issue when he last took the ACT, and I suggested that he continue to practice with a timer since time management is key with the science section. He had a positive attitude throughout the session. During the session, I spoke about strategies that he could use to approach the section, such as starting with the questions and then reading the passage. I also walked through ways to interpret graphs and charts.
