It was a pleasure to meet both students today. The boy displayed a good deal of understanding while studying Chapter 7 today. We focused on Chapter 7 today because he said this was where he struggled the most when preparing for his mid-term. We shall see how he does on his math test tomorrow, but I am confident he should receive at least a B.

Today we covered statistics and probability topics of algebra such as interpreting graphs and data and combinations and permutations. Since it was our last session before his test we also went over exponents again and did a little review. Once again I added equations to his study guide/ formula sheet and hopefully it will help him review before he takes his test.

Today, we worked through several passages and their questions, focusing on comprehension, specifically involving colloquialisms and metaphors. We also continued our study of SAT vocabulary, discussing in-depth the nuances and connotations of the words the student identified as problematic. Vocabulary and its applications continue to be, and will remain, our biggest challenges. We worked more this session on taking a step back and realizing that many of the questions are subjective, and that it's important to identify the skill a given question is testing, in order to understand what the questions want to know.
