I have my BA in English Writing and Masters in Early Childhood(Prek-3rd)/Special Education. My first year teaching I was a special education teacher in the Resource Room K-5th grade. I am currently a 1st grade teacher and lead the Science, Math, and Social Studies curriculum. My role is to represent the school in a positive and professional manner. I believe I do this well as I portray an enthusiastic, responsible and reliable image. I also have worked with 3-6 years old in summer camp settings and children with emotional/behavioral issues.I look forward to working with children with any needs they may have. I believe I can learn from them as much as they learn from me. My goal is to not only have children grow intellectually but grow in their confidence and believe that they are smart, capable, and bright children no matter what hurdle they may face during their instruction time.

I am a passionate educator striving for quality education and school success for my students. No student learns exactly the same way. Students must trust you as a tutor so they can tell you how they best learn. I always want my students to feel comfortable in their learning environment.I include exercises that are relatable for students in our sessions. I want to help students build connections and scaffold the learning. When learning a language, culture plays a huge part, so I want to relate the learning to Spanish culture as much as possible.In my spare time I enjoy painting, trekking, and soccer.

Before pursuing a career in education, I attended Katharine Gibbs School of Fashion, where I obtained an Associate of Science degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising. I have more than 13 years of experience co-teaching in self-contained classrooms teaching students with disabilities. Although I love and enjoy working with children of all ages, I've developed a deeper love for students with disabilities. I believe all children are deserving of equal and fair education and that it's my responsibility to equip students with the tools they need to be successful. I am a firm believer in education and how absolutely necessary it is for an improved quality of life. Although I tutor in core subjects, I am extremely passionate about English and Literature. Most of the tutoring services I provide are to assist students in elementary and middle school, however, I have much experience tutoring undergrad and graduate students as well. In order to achieve success with my students, the first and most important thing I need to know is, "What is the best way this student can learn?" and of course knowing what interests them. When I have a gauge on what type of learner the student is, it allows me to create my initial baseline assessments and start from there. From there I establish goals and set the foundation to improve the skills that are in need of improvement. When we reach goals, we continue to create new ones and constantly find ways to challenge the student. We all must be challenged as individuals, and in particular as students, because we truly never stop learning.

I graduated from Universidad Tcnica Particular de Loja in Ecuador with a Bachelor's degree in Educational Sciences and later earned a Master's degree in Arts from New Jersey City University, specializing in third-language acquisition for multilingual students. My teaching career began in 1986 at the high school level in Ecuador, and in 1998 I moved to the United States, where I have taught Spanish in New Jersey across grades K-12. Currently, I teach Spanish levels 2, 3, 4, and AP Spanish Language & Culture at the high school level, guiding students in language proficiency while deepening their appreciation for Hispanic culture. Throughout my career, I have been dedicated to supporting diverse learners, including students with learning difficulties, and I also bring experience working in speech therapy with children ages one to three. I am a strong advocate for education, committed to transmitting knowledge of lasting value that benefits students, their families, and their communities. I received my Bachelor in Arts degree concentrating in Music from New Jersey City University. As a teacher, I took care of many daily tasks such as lesson planning, coordinating events and classroom management to ensure the smooth and efficient day or week of teaching, providing support for professional and management staff.I very much enjoyed being a teacher as a Second Language that I decided to further my education and take a CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults). This course has opened my eyes as an ESL teacher.
