How can a tutor help you with summer tutoring?

Every student loves their summer vacation. However, the summertime may be a time when students can lose up to two months of school knowledge. During the summer, students don't spend their time practicing the skills they've learned in school, which means a lot of the information can be forgotten and has to be retaught at the beginning of the next school year. In general, the first six weeks of the fall are spent relearning material students have already been taught. You can help your student prepare for the beginning of the school year with summer tutoring in New York City, New York. Varsity Tutors' educational directors can help you locate a great tutor for your student.

Keeping information fresh in a student's mind is important, but many students don't enjoy studying when they'd rather be outside playing. However, New York City summer tutoring doesn't have to be monotonous. Your student's personal tutor may make the experience enjoyable for them by playing math games and utilizing tactile learning toys that can keep the information fresh and hold their interest. Summer is also a great opportunity for a student to strengthen their reading skills. Fun books are always encouraged, and a private tutor can choose an interesting and challenging book for your student that can give them the chance to push themselves. Complex reading materials in the summer can be easier to work on because your child is less likely to feel overwhelmed by other work and can instead focus more intently on an engaging book. They can also have a professional tutor who can guide them through the process of comprehending and analyzing richer texts working with them as they read.

In today's session the student and I worked on to complete the geometry final exam review packet. On the previous day we completed five out of ten pages of the review, so our goal was to finish the last five. We slowly but precisely completed the rest of the five pages until the student had a great understanding of it.

Summer Tutoring review by Aleksey in New York City, NY
Discussed the concept of electric potential - voltage - as it applies to a current-carrying conductor. Explained and expanded on the concept of resistance - why materials in general have resistance to the flow of charge - and put it in context of the most accurately describable method in quantum mechanics. Though vastly similar to the more common and approximate idea of charges bouncing around inside a crystal, this approach also allows us a glimpse into the phenomenon of superconductors. Finally, we applied these concepts to calculating actual resistance values of a shape given a few dimensions and material properties.
