Hello my name is Viraj Shah and I'm a 2nd year medical student at the University of Miami. I have been an SAT and ACT tutoring for over 6 years now at the local Boys and Girls Club. I received my Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Miami. Then I got my Master of Engineering in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida. Currently I am working on a second master's degree, in Electrical Engineering.During my undergraduate studies at the University of Miami I worked as a part time peer tutor, meaning I tutored other undergraduate students in classes I had already taken. I primarily tutored for classes related to mathematics and physics as those were the subjects I enjoyed and felt confident teaching. During my time as a graduate student at the University of Florida, I was a Teacher's Assistant for two semesters where I helped undergraduate students with circuit design and building. From these experiences I realized that I enjoyed teaching. It is satisfying to see students light up when they understand a concept that was previously confusing. In my free time, I enjoy watching movies, motorcycle riding, running, ice skating, and going out with my friends.

I've been tutoring for over a decade with my most intensive tutoring being over the last year and a half. My passion for education started to unearth itself as I earned my BS in Biology and BA in Philosophy from the University of Miami and graduated to work at the John P. Hussman Institute for Human Genomics. It was here I was published for my work involving reprogramming autistic blood cells to stem cells, and then to neurons. I realized that I really loved sharing my work and teaching it to others. I went on to earn my Master's of Science in Biotechnology from Rush University and started to share this passion and energy of mine with others. Before starting my PhD, I decided I wanted to share science with the world and began my first scientific media project, Biolitics podcast and Biolitics.org. I left my PhD a few months after starting to build my media company and tutor full time. Not only do I truly love seeing my children succeed, I love being able to use my ability to teach and teach well to help support my dreams. I have the fortune of tutoring students one on one and then taking my passion for education behind the microphone to share with the world. I'm a strong public speaker and my high energy and charisma helps keeps my students engaged.

I received my PhD in Psychology/Behavioral Medicine from the University of Miami after receiving my M.S in Clinical Health Psychology from UM, and B.A. in Psychology and B.S. in Biology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Consequently, my favorite subjects to tutor are psychology and biology! I also love tutoring writing as I have had extensive experience with academic writing throughout my career. I have taught at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate level and thoroughly enjoy working with students. I have always loved learning and I love sharing my love of learning with others!

I am a graduate of the University of Miami School of Communications and received a B.S. in Communications. I doubled majored in Advertising and English Literature and minored in Fine Arts. While studying at UM, I participated in a Study Abroad program and spent a semester in Prague, Czech Republic. The time I spent abroad sparked a desire to travel and study other cultures. This was my first exposure to tutoring students in English. Since graduation, I have spent time working as a substitute teacher and received my TESOL certification to teach English abroad. While I tutor a range of subjects including elementary and middle school math and test preparation, I am passionate about reading, writing, and editing. I strongly believe that the ability to communicate clearly is one of the most important skills any student can learn. I also believe there are many ways to approach a problem, whether in math or writing or study skills, and look forward to finding creative approaches with my students and building upon past sessions to create a solid foundation for future learning. Outside of education, I enjoy sewing and crafting, art, exercising, and reading.

I am a soon to be graduate from the University of Miami where I will be graduating with my Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering with a Minor in Spanish. As an engineering major I've taken advanced math courses and extensive Chemistry courses. I have done very well in my classes and I have a 3.6 GPA overall.
