I am not the most effective teacher unless I coax students to revisit material that did not make sense to them in class. My experience has been primarily with freshmen scientists and non-majors in general science courses, so the majority of them have not developed a comfort with the material and do not feel welcome asking questions for clarity at the beginning of the semester, but after the first few weeks of class I see students becoming much more adept at approaching the material.

I am fulfilling the legacy. I am currently working towards a bachelors degree in middle level education at Illinois State University. Apart of my degree, I will receive certifications to teach science and mathematics at grades 5-8. I have been working with students throughout my time in college both large and small groups, as well as individual tutoring of 5th grade students. I do have a focus on the middle age range but I can help with any high school math and even into college level math. When...

I am a recent graduate of the University of Washington in Seattle. I received my Bachelors of Arts in Comprehensive Physics. Throughout my physics degree I have obtained an extensive knowledge of high level math and statistics. I joined several study groups and learned the importance of teaching my fellow students in order to gain a more concrete understanding of the material myself. After graduation, I had the opportunity to work for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration collectin...

I am excited to continue to do so after moving back to Illinois! I especially enjoy tutoring because it allows a closer connection with the student than in a large classroom setting. I enjoy sharing my experience and enthusiasm with student while also helping them progress toward their academic goals. Outside of my love of Biology and Spanish I also love playing tennis, rock climbing, watching movies and TV and I have a new found enthusiasm for biking.

I am interested in tutoring math here in San Antonio. I have a fundamental understanding of Geometry, Algebra I and II, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus I through III. When I attended the University of Texas I tutored middle school and high school students in math and science at the Carver Library in east Austin. Additionally, I have tutored close friends taking College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. I really do enjoy teaching and I believe I would be a great help to the students here in San Ant...

I am a Senior at UC Berkeley, expecting to graduate next spring with a degree in Engineering Physics. Since I began tutoring, it has always been my philosophy to make sure the student understands a subject by breaking down concepts in the easiest way. My passion for the sciences drives me to not only teach what is on paper, but offer deeper insights to the material. I also love to laugh, and because of that, I try to make sessions light hearted, and less intimidating. Furthermore, as a problem s...
