Session Summaries by Spanish Tutors

Spanish Tutoring review by Devin in South Jordan, UT
The students learned how to build a monkey with play dough and learned some new animal vocabulary. They are still warming up to speaking Spanish, and eventually will learn how to speak fluently, little by little.

Spanish Tutoring review by Julio in South Jordan, UT
The students talked about their goals. They had a great attitude toward the material presented today. We reviewed the Spanish alphabet, the personal pronouns, the conjugation of the verbs SER, and TENER. The students know some Spanish vocabulary, and have a wonderful pronunciation. We also had the opportunity to practice writing and speaking. We will practice more conversation during next sessions.

Spanish Tutoring review by Areyzika in South Jordan, UT
This session was mainly dedicated to talking in Spanish. She practiced her listening comprehension and speaking skills. We talked about her vacation to Hawaii, the highlights of the trip and the things she did there. We reviewed two recipes in Spanish (her homework), the verbs to use, and other alternative cooking adjectives, words, and items. She made Salsa Verde as part of the session, and while she cooked we talked about food, her favorite meals, what she ate in Hawaii, the usual meals her mom cooks and the different cooking utensils in her kitchen. She did great, but I did notice a little setback on her listening comprehension and speaking skills. I'm not sure if she was a bit rusty because of her vacation, but I needed to repeat more than usual what I was saying and sometimes she spoke English instead of trying to find the words in Spanish. We will continue to work on this next session.

Spanish Tutoring review by Jessica in South Jordan, UT
This session was spent going over a Spanish 4 review packet. The student completed an exercise where he had to come up with an essay on an upcoming college event expressing hopes and desires, utilizing the subjunctive tense. He also completed a fill in the blank exercise that called for reading comprehension, vocabulary recall, and por vs. para. He did a great job on his timed writing exercise!

Spanish Tutoring review by Eybe in South Jordan, UT
This session we worked on the material the student brought home from school. The student had a list of how his schedule for the day went, and together we reviewed what was done in class. We mostly did reading assignments, and the student is responding well to the sessions to reinforce what he learned in school.

Spanish Tutoring review by Manuel S. in South Jordan, UT
This session, we covered listening, writing, pronunciation, and translation practice. The student read a story from the textbook "Realidades 1." Then, he wrote a dictation from the same story read by me. After that, we proceeded to make the corrections. He did it with a high accuracy. Then, he read the story one more time, with a better intonation and pronunciation and proceeded to translate the story.
