Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Devin in South Jordan, UT
The students built a tent today. They learned new vocabulary and were still a bit shy to speak Spanish. But they are understanding very well and were very enthusiastic. We reviewed colors, songs, and dance moves. Next time, we will go over shapes and do an art project.

The students learned today vocabulary related to clothing, jewelry and accessories. They had dictation, so they wrote ten sentences using that vocabulary. We practiced the conjugation of verbs in the present tense. At the end of the session, students practiced conversation.

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Sean in South Jordan, UT
The whole hour-long session was devoted to learning about and reviewing vocabulary related to "la familia" (the family). We reviewed words and the student completed worksheets on pp.30-33 of the Everything Kids book and p. 59 in a Spanish workbook. We played two games, one on myspanishgames.com (it was a family tree game) and one on onlinefreespanish.com (the vocabulary was a little more difficult there and he had to complete sentences). We finished up by watching three skits: one regarding a Spanish teacher who taught her own family some Spanish (family vocabulary), one that showed a Spanish project in the 8th grade and one that was a comical "la familia" skit where the students were actors and portrayed various family members. The student's attention was good during the whole session. He enjoyed playing the games and watching the videos to reinforce the recognition of the terms.

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Lana in South Jordan, UT
Things went well. The student still has considerable amount of anxiety, but she does better than she thinks. I'm taking it very slow with her, but we did move on to some difficult concepts today in past tense. She's asked for extra time between sessions to practice.

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Templeton in South Jordan, UT
This session required some on the spot changes because of how well the student did on the diagnostic exam. So today, we worked on the four most common verbs (ser, estar, ir, tener), as well as how to use ir to speak about the future. We also reviewed regular -ar, -er, -ir conjugations. The student took a few minutes to grasp the concepts but after she moved through them quite swiftly. From now on, we will be covering Spanish from the ground up. If she gets it, I'll move on, and if not then that's what we'll spend the lesson on. I'm worried about going too quickly and having her miss nuances that, while not critical now, may be as we approach more complex conjugations. I explained all this to her and she agreed. She has 3 assignments in the interim to make regular conjugations more salient.
