Originally from central Minnesota, I earned my BA from Hamline University in 2013 with a degree in English, a concentration in creative writing, minors in women's studies and psychology, and a certificate in teaching English as a foreign language. When I wasn't working on academics, I wrote for the newspaper, served as a new student mentor with transfer students, and worked at a toy store in a nearby mall. Currently, I'm working toward my MA in early childhood education from Concordia University. I also take Spanish classes. After tutoring middle and high school students in math, social studies, literature, writing, and Spanish during my undergrad, I completed a year of service with Minnesota Reading Corps as an elementary school literacy tutor. Now I work as a preschool teacher in a Spanish-English dual immersion preschool; I co-teach a class of 17 three and four year olds.Beyond academics, I love to bike around the Twin Cities, find new nooks to explore, read, and practice yoga. I've traveled to Mexico, Nicaragua, Guatemala, and Panama, and hope to see more of Central and South America soon. I write and perform poetry, and coach a team of college slam poets. I'm interested in building positive, mutual mentoring relationships with those I tutor.

All students have the ability to succeed. This belief has fueled my desire to seek out and help students to reach their own successes through whatever means possible. Teaching is my vocation, and being able to assist you or your student in their journey to success is what fuels me to work as hard as possible to teach and find new ways to teach content. My main subject area is English/Writing/Reading. I received a Bachelor of Science in Broad Area English Education, and have worked in both middle school and high school teaching English Language Arts. In college, I worked as a tutor and the student manager of the Writing Center, as well as the Online Writing Center. All of these experiences have built me into the teacher I am today, and has provided me with the necessary experience that I need to be the best teacher that I can be for you and/or your student. In addition to English Language Arts, I am also experienced in tutoring in basic math skills (through algebra) and ACT prep.I am so excited to start working with you to help you reach your goals and find success!

I am a licensed teacher (ESL and Spanish) and have over 15 years of ACT/SAT tutoring experience. Before joining Wyzant, I was an ACT/SAT prep course instructor for The Princeton Review and Kaplan Test Prep, where I helped students develop the skills and strategies needed to succeed in all areas of the exam. My 5-star reviews reflect consistent success in helping students improve their scores and confidence after working with me. My tutoring approach is structured, targeted for all skill levels, and results-driven. In addition to test prep, I have 10 years of teaching experience and a master's degree, allowing me to explain complex concepts clearly and efficiently. I am professional, punctual, and well-prepared, and I tailor every lesson to each student's goals.
