Essay Editing Tutoring review by Gwen in Markham, IL
Riding our success from the last session, the girls again created prepositional phrases. I wrote them down and showed them how they can appear in a sentence. Today's session was the most challenging for the student so far. I anticipated that the material we cover would be difficult at this point, so it did not surprise me that he had more trouble in today's session. The novel is much harder now than it was at the beginning, and so I am happy with the work that he is doing; I am pushing him to read and understand a difficult novel, and he is meeting the challenge. We covered a new character, Fay; we established that she is important to the novel because she provides a different point of view on the experiment. We then worked on some difficult passages; I had him paraphrase the passage in order for him to establish a strong understanding if them. He struggled with this, but he ultimately succeeded. I plan on doing more work like this next week. Finally, we caught up on the titles for the chapters as a wrap-up for the session.

Essay Editing Tutoring review by Maureen in Markham, IL
The two students practiced completing analogies, and recognizing synonyms and antonyms. We then read the first chapter of the Hunger Games. They worked on reading with a smooth, fluent voice. They also identified unfamiliar words, and we studied their meanings. I then found that the students had done their homework, writing a paragraph about the meaning of friendship based on Milkweed. During the session, they also wrote a paragraph describing the main character of the Hunger Games and a paragraph predicting what will happen in Chapter 2. They also enjoyed playing a word game.

Essay Editing Tutoring review by Asti in Markham, IL
We began by reviewing figurative language and then introduced the concept of symbolism. She identified symbolism in All Summer in a Day then free associated with the symbols and analyzed their meaning within the story. She ended by summarizing the symbolic meaning of the story. She did a great job at extending her associations with figurative language and symbols.
