Whether you're an undergraduate student planning to apply to business school or focused on advancing your business career, Varsity Tutors can help you prepare for the Graduate Management Admission Test, or GMAT, with an interactive Albany GMAT course. Each course is designed to enable a qualified instructor and students to collaborate via an intuitive online platform. Just sign in from wherever you are and receive invaluable subject review and guidance from someone with the right experience.
Completing the GMAT is a major milestone on your path to an advanced business education. It is an assessment of your analytical, reasoning, and writing skills. Besides being a computer-based assessment, it is evaluated by review boards such as those who oversee admissions to schools like the University at Albany or Albany State University. Your performance on the exam can therefore make a difference in how your application is received and whether you will ultimately be able to participate in an MBA program.
What Does an Albany GMAT Prep Course Review?
Varsity Tutors offers an Albany GMAT course that not only provides a comprehensive overview of the content on the exam, but that also helps students understand the format. The test consists of four unique sections, including Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and an Analytical Writing Assessment. Each of these sections is designed to assess specific skills deemed necessary for success in a business career.
The Integrated Reasoning section includes multiple question types. One type requires you to analyze data contained in text, graphics, and tables, while another requires analysis of tabulated data to identify relevant information embedded within a spreadsheet-like presentation. Other questions require you to interpret graphics and conduct two-part analyses, such as solving simultaneous equations or more complex problems involving two disparate entities. There are 12 questions in this part, which you have 30 minutes to answer.
You'll have 62 minutes to complete the Quantitative Reasoning section's 31 multiple-choice questions. The two main types of questions here include problem-solving and data sufficiency questions. To solve problems presented on the exam, you'll need to use your analytical and logical reasoning skills. Data sufficiency questions require an analysis of the problem and for you to identify relevant data, apply general knowledge, or use mathematical concepts to provide an answer.
The Verbal Reasoning section tests your level of reading comprehension. You'll need to assess words and statements, as well as logical relationships between them, and draw your own inferences. A critical reasoning component includes short passages, which you must read and evaluate. There are also sentence correction questions in this section that gives you 65 minutes to answer 36 questions.
There is also a free-response, or essay, portion of the GMAT. This Analytical Writing Assessment consists of a single question, which presents an argument you must produce a response to in 30 minutes. The quality of your writing is essential here. At the same time, you must plan and write out your response while organizing and developing your ideas over a short period of time. Plus, all the facts and examples you provide must be relevant to the argument and your position.
What Are the Benefits of Signing Up for an Albany GMAT Class?
GMAT prep can be difficult for any student to complete adequately on their own. Varsity Tutors has therefore developed an online class format in which students, their peers, and a qualified instructor can interact and collaborate with one another in real time. A live virtual platform enables students to access the class from anywhere they're connected to the Internet. See, hear, and interact with your instructor and others in the class on any type of device, including a laptop or tablet. The classroom format provides an opportunity to learn in groups, which can be an effective means to improve and develop skills and build your confidence in advance of the exam.
An Albany GMAT course can go over practice tests and subjects you've learned in the past. If there are any learning gaps, they can be addressed now, and various exercises can be applied toward learning how the questions on the GMAT are presented. For example, a few answers may look like they may apply. By learning a process of elimination, you can narrow down your choices and use the content of the question to find the most logical answer. If you need more personalized help, instructors are available for one-on-one sessions. This could be just the thing if your writing skills are solid but you need practice in mathematical operations, problem-solving, or becoming familiar with using specific types of data.
How Do I Find an Albany GMAT Class That Works for Me?
The first thing students often think about in regards to the prospects of signing up for a class is whether it will fit in their schedule. At Varsity Tutors, we know students and working professionals have busy school, work, and family lives. That's why we've developed a program in which classes start weekly. You can also sign up for a two- or four-week class depending on what suits you best. The format and structure may only matter in the type of learning experience you are looking for, but rest assured you'll receive the help you need.
Preparing for the GMAT is hard work, but this investment in your career can pay off with the right type of education. If you've come this far, there is much to gain by putting in the effort. An Albany GMAT course offered by Varsity Tutors provides content review and in-depth insights into the format of the exam, so you can prepare in advance and gain the confidence needed to perform at your peak on test day. ...and goals. I previously taught high school for several years and also have tutoring experience in a wide variety of subject areas. At this time, I focus almost exclusively on assisting students seeking top scores on graduate admissions exams, including the GRE, GMAT and LSAT. In my free time I enjoy watching all kinds of sports, reading, playing board games, going to concerts, and spending time with my friends, family, and 4-pound Chihuahua Pinkie.... My teaching philosophy is essentially that all students have the capacity and desire to learn. Some individuals may just need individualized instruction in particular subject areas or with study skills and time management. I think that building confidence is one of the most key components to academic success, and I strive to do so with every student.

I graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC in 2008, the oldest English speaking acting conservatory in the world. I graduated Summa from University of St Thomas with a BA in English, and just wrapped up a MS in Data Science from Northwestern. I'm a huge Red Sox fan and love watching detective shows when I have free time.... Positivity. Always. I believe that if a student is given positive tools and is allowed to understand the material rather than be lectured at, they're more likely to do well in the future.

When I was in 8th grade, I was struggling with pre-algebra (I couldn't seem to wrap my head around distance/rate/time problems). I found myself loathing a class I had once loved. I started working with a tutor and going from barely getting by to being successful in that class was a very fulfilling feeling that I hope to continue to pass on to others.... The best teachers are always trying to learn as well.... Get to know his/her likes and dislikes, and identify where they are strong to build up confidence. Create a friendly and casual atmosphere.
