If you're hoping to get into the University of Central Florida College of Business Administration, Varsity Tutors can set you up with an Orlando GMAT course. The GMAT, or Graduate Management Admission Test, was specifically designed to determine one's potential and ability to succeed in an MBA program. Thousands of MBA and Masters degree programs use the GMAT for admission decisions as it is a proven predictor of a student's ability to succeed in a graduate-level business or management program. Therefore, it is vital to make sure you have earned the highest score possible on your GMAT. An Orlando GMAT course can be an excellent tool for students and working professionals who want to review the skills necessary to do well.
The GMAT consists of four distinct sections, all of which evaluate critical thinking and reasoning skills in a different manner. The Analytical Writing Assessment measures how to evaluate an argument provided in written form. The Integrated Reasoning section assesses your capacity to analyze and combine information. The section on Quantitative Reasoning evaluates your ability to solve problems and judge data sufficiency. The final section, which is Verbal Reasoning, judges reading comprehension, critical thinking, and sentence revision skills. All of these skills and more can be covered in an Orlando GMAT course.
What can I learn in an Orlando GMAT course?
Your prep course instructor will make sure to go over all of the ins and outs of the GMAT. For example, when you arrive at your GMAT testing location, you'll need to make a few important decisions in a short amount of time. You'll need to already know what schools you want your scores sent to, the sequence you wish to take your GMAT sections in, and whether or not you want your unofficial score recorded at the end of your exam. Talking about these decisions in your classes with your peers and instructor can help alleviate the stress of trying to do it on exam day.
Additionally, an Orlando GMAT class can go further into depth about the various sections of the GMAT. Let's take a closer look at the different sections.
The Analytical Writing Assessment only consists of one question and you must finish within 30 minutes. This section is mainly evaluating your overall writing ability and how well you are able to organize and express your thoughts to support your ideas. You do not need prior knowledge of the topic found in this section since this section doesn't require you to create an argument. You only have to read an argument and determine if it has used the provided evidence correctly. Working on these skills in conjunction with other students can help you by providing peer editing opportunities and constructive criticism.
You are allotted half an hour to complete the 12 questions found in the Integrated Reasoning section. Your prep course can guide you and your peers through the process of analyzing various sources of information to recognize discrepancies and answer multi-step problems. This section requires you to answer all parts of a problem correctly to receive any credit for the question. Practicing working through these kinds of problems quickly and efficiently will be the best way to prepare for this part of the exam.
The Quantitative Reasoning section has 31 questions which you must answer within a 62-minute time frame. In your prep course, you'll be able to practice the data sufficiency and problem-solving skills necessary to score well in this section. Participating in a group activity which allows you to do this in a collaborative manner can help you with knowledge retention. You will need to brush up your basic algebra, geometry, and arithmetic skills for this portion of the exam.
The Verbal Reasoning section is the longest section with 36 questions and a 65-minute time limit. Your prep course can help you hone your reading comprehension skills with discussions on how to find the main ideas of a passage and use supporting evidence to draw conclusions. You will also want to practice your ability to determine the strength or weakness of an argument.
