You must earn a top score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) to enter many leading business schools, and Varsity Tutors can help you work towards that goal with a San Diego GMAT prep course. Your score on the GMAT will be an indicator to the admissions officials reviewing your application of your level of preparedness for engaging in graduate-level work. Whether you are applying to the University of California, San Diego - The Rady School of Management after finishing your undergraduate degree or you want to enroll in the San Diego State University - Fowler College of Business after building your career, you need to make sure you give the GMAT your best effort.
Four individual sections determine the score you receive on the GMAT. Each portion of the exam is designed to demonstrate your skills in areas of immense value to business schools. The GMAT was created with the assistance of some of the nation's top business schools and professionals in various fields of business who understand the common skills which are required for someone to find success in this area.
What does the San Diego GMAT course cover?
The four sections of the GMAT are Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Integrated Reasoning, and the Analytical Writing Assessment. You will have about three hours to complete all four parts, but that time is not evenly dispersed. As part of your preparation efforts, it is vital that you pay attention to how much time you will have on each segment so you can begin to prepare yourself for those restrictions. Now, let's take a closer look at each section.
In the Verbal Reasoning segment of the GMAT, you will have 65 minutes to answer the 36 questions which are presented in multiple-choice format. It is possible to score anywhere between 0 and 60 points for this part of the test but scoring outside the range of 6 to 51 is unusual. In this section, you will be presented with three types of questions: reading comprehension, critical reasoning, and sentence correction. This part of the test is where the technicalities of communication are highlighted. You will need to be on point when it comes to vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, and clarity of writing. However, as with most sections of the exam you will also need to rely heavily on your reading comprehension skills and ability to draw inferences, follow concept development, and evaluate arguments.
In the Quantitative Reasoning section of the GMAT, you will have 62 minutes to answer the 31 questions which are also presented in multiple-choice format. As with Verbal Reasoning, you can score between 0 and 60 points, but most students fall within the 6 to 51 point range. There are only two types of questions in this portion of the test: problem-solving and data sufficiency. For the problem-solving items, you will need to solve problems using your analytical skills and ability to leverage logical reasoning to read a passage and determine the best possible answer from the choices offered. Data sufficiency requires you use your math, analytical reasoning, and general knowledge to analyze a problem and its relevant data to determine if you have enough data to answer the question.
The Integrated Reasoning portion of the GMAT only requires you answer 12 questions within 30 minutes, which may seem like a breeze compared to the previously discussed sections, but that isn't necessarily true. Many of these 12 questions have multiple steps and will take longer to answer. The scoring range for this section is also smaller; you can only earn between 1 and 8 points here. The three types of questions you will encounter will assess your ability to gather and combine data from multiple sources to solve the problems.
Now we need to discuss the Analytical Writing Assessment. This section of the test will highlight your written communication talents, and it's crucial you make space in your study efforts to analyze how well you write and where you need improvement. You will only have 30 minutes to read the selected passage, analyze it, form and outline an argument, and write it as clearly as possible.
As you can see, each of the sections you will face in the GMAT is directly related to tasks you will need to perform in your graduate studies and also in your professional life. When you make studying for the GMAT a priority with a professionally developed San Diego GMAT class, you are also preparing yourself to do your best in your studies and career.

When I was in 8th grade, I was struggling with pre-algebra (I couldn't seem to wrap my head around distance/rate/time problems). I found myself loathing a class I had once loved. I started working with a tutor and going from barely getting by to being successful in that class was a very fulfilling feeling that I hope to continue to pass on to others.... The best teachers are always trying to learn as well.... Get to know his/her likes and dislikes, and identify where they are strong to build up confidence. Create a friendly and casual atmosphere.
