Varsity Tutors can help you prepare for the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) with a convenient Jacksonville GMAT prep course. If you are hoping to enroll at the Coggin College of Business at the University of North Florida, you will first need to complete an admissions examination like the GMAT.
A Jacksonville GMAT class is more than an opportunity to prepare for the GMAT and impress admissions officers. It is an opportunity to level up the skills top business experts have proven are beneficial for those who hope to make their mark in the world of business. You will use the skills covered in the GMAT throughout your graduate studies and in your daily professional life. By making the space to proactively improve these skills you are making an important decision that could benefit you for years or even decades to come.
What does a Jacksonville GMAT course cover?
The GMAT is comprised of four individual sections: Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, Integrated Reasoning, and the Analytical Writing Assessment. You will have a total of just over three hours to complete all four sections, but that time is not evenly distributed between the sections. It is necessary to become familiar with the time constraints and expectations of each of the sections to properly manage your time throughout the exam. Preparing for the GMAT with a professionally developed course can help with this.
You will have a little more than an hour each for the Quantitative and Verbal Reasoning sections of the GMAT, which gives you approximately two minutes for each question on these sections. These are the nuts and bolts sections of the GMAT. Quantitative Reasoning is evaluating your mathematical skills and ability to analyze and assess data while Verbal Reasoning is assessing your grammatical skills and command of the English language.
You will only have thirty minutes each for the Integrated Reasoning and Analytical Writing Assessment. These sections have far fewer questions each because they require more work and critical thinking.
The Analytical Writing Assessment requires students to read a passage and then analyze it before planning and writing your response which will be graded on the quality of writing, thoughts expressed, analytical ability, organizational skills, and general writing ability. Writing will continue to play a significant role in your graduate career, and the clarity with which you can write will make an impression and set the expectations of co-workers, staff, employers, and potential business associates. If you struggle with your ability to write clear and compelling copy, you will absolutely want to work with someone before approaching the GMAT.
The Integrated Reasoning section builds upon the skills used in both the Quantitative and Verbal Reasoning sections. You will need to assess a variety of forms of data to determine if the presented problem can be solved from the given data. If so, you will then need to solve the problem. While there are only 12 questions in this section, each one can contain multiple steps making it very important to practice with the format, so you become comfortable with the time constraint.
Studying for all of this on your own could easily feel overwhelming. Indeed, it is why many students who want to pursue a graduate degree never make it to the next phase of their academic journey. Fortunately, you don't need to prepare for the GMAT alone. With the help of an experienced instructor, you will have a clearer path forward.
How can a Jacksonville GMAT class help me prepare?
When you enroll in a Jacksonville GMAT class, you will have the structure and professional academic support you need to quickly and efficiently work towards reaching for your GMAT score goals. You have the ability to begin classes whenever it is most convenient for your schedule as we have new sessions starting each week. You can choose from our two-week or four-week option depending on your personal goals, schedule, and academic needs.
A Jacksonville GMAT course is set up much like a traditional classroom in that you will meet regularly with other students and an instructor. However, since all of your interactions occur in our secure online learning environment, you don't have to worry about factoring in commute time, searching for a parking spot, or how to get to class when the weather isn't cooperating. Having all of your GMAT prep online makes it remarkably easy to find the time to prioritize your educational goals.
One of the most valuable resources you will have as part of your instructional experience is the ability to discuss GMAT tactics and concepts with peers. Not only does this serve as an excellent source of motivation to help you fast-track your preparation efforts, but it can also provide you with valuable insight into your own process and allow you to glean tips and tricks from others with similar academic and professional goals.
As you work through the class, you may find you need a little extra help, which is why you can always ask your instructor questions. It is similar in concept to the experience of raising your hand in a classroom and receiving brief feedback or clarification.
Another benefit of adding a prep course to your GMAT study arsenal is that in addition to becoming more familiar with the content, you will also gain familiarity with the format and processes utilized by the examination.

Previously, I worked as a tutor...

I graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC in 2008, the oldest English speaking acting conservatory in the world. I graduated Summa from University of St Thomas with a BA in English, and just wrapped up a MS in Data Science from Northwestern. I'm a huge Red Sox fan and love watching detective shows when I have free time.... Positivity. Always. I believe that if a student is given positive tools and is allowed to understand the material rather than be lectured at, they're more likely to do well in the future.
