I pulled some problems to re-assess the student on fractions. We reviewed how to write legibly and specific checkpoints when working with fractions. He worked well and wrote very clear. I made notes of all of his mistakes, which were mostly small miscalculations. He was able to immediately correct all but 1 of his missed problems. We did a quick review on word problems and wrote notes about strategies to use when solving word problems. He has been putting in excellent efforts and should continue to practice to improve his skills.

Great session. I made the student a practice test that included multiplication, solving/graphing inequalities, order of operations, systems of equations, and word problems. He did well on this practice. We are also working on getting him back in the habit of checking his work. Near the end of the session, I started asking him to explain each step of the problem to me, which helped him catch mistakes. We also continued to review the midterm.

We started on functions, domains and ranges, and graphing and plotting. The student had a really good grasp of the subject. We discussed physics, neutrinos, astrophysics, general relativity, and special relativity.

This session covered algebra topics. Worked specifically on factoring large polynomials using synthetic substitution. The student needs more practice but should be able to use his notes to tackle additional questions.

Today the student worked on her homework. She is still working on radicals and simplification. She seems to be very reliant on her notes, so much so that she has a hard time adapting to problems without them right in front of her. I think she needs to work with them less so that she is forced to think about how to solve them given the knowledge she has studied. We will work on that in future sessions.
