How can a French tutor help you?

Learning a new language can be both fun and exciting. French is commonly called the language of love, and is the official language of 29 different countries. While it is useful and fun, it can also be very challenging to learn a new language when you are used to speaking a different one your whole life. If you are taking French and struggling to keep up, or you are enrolled in French this upcoming semester and know that you may struggle, perhaps you should think about getting help from a private tutor. Phoenix, Arizona, French tutoring may be an option you'd like to consider. Varsity Tutors can help you connect with a skilled French tutor.

The French language has a whole different set of grammatical rules and types of speech than you may be used to if English is your native language. It is often hard to decipher between masculine and feminine words in French if you are not a native French speaker. No matter if you struggle with one concept or many, a skilled Phoenix French tutor can help focus on your needs.

French Tutoring review by Carolyn in Phoenix, AZ
Today we went over writing, reading, and French. One of the student's goals is to improve his writing, and we discussed the writing process in great depth. We brainstormed, came up with main ideas, and he chose a specific topic about which to write an essay today. He is going to examine the Invasion of Guadalcanal in his essay. We went over reading material as well. We discussed the importance of reading quality literature instead of formula fiction. We discussed analyzing literature from a critical perspective, as well as the need to read higher level vocabulary. We went over the French assignments that he needs to complete in order to finish his French class.

French Tutoring review by Anna in Phoenix, AZ
We continued studying for the student's final exam on Wednesday. We went over the grammar that will be on the test, including conditional present, future, spelling-changing verbs, etc. He seems to have a good grasp of the concepts. If he makes a mistake, he usually understands what it is; his infrequent errors seem to come because he works quickly. Working quickly is fine. He will make sure to check his work before turning in the test. It's been an absolute joy to work with him this semester. Just so we know where we came from, at the beginning, he hated French and was hesitant to speak it. Now, if I ask him to use a vocabulary word in a sentence, he has no trouble constructing the sentence with the grammar concepts he has learned so far, and he can do this orally (in his head) as well as written. I am impressed with his progress. He even seems to like the language now! Maybe a little? Have a great summer!

French Tutoring review by Maureen in Phoenix, AZ
During this session, we reviewed the previously-taught -er verb conjugations, by going over homework. We reviewed essential vocabulary, to answer any questions that were challenging, including question words (in English the 5 Ws and the H) and negations (ne...pas). We also practiced conjugation of -er verbs with parler and aimer. For homework, he is going to study the common -er verbs, review ne...pas, and memorize the conjugation of etre, in preparation for simple sentences and the past tense.

French Tutoring review by Cindy in Phoenix, AZ
During today's lesson I looked at his homework and checked for accuracy. Everything was correct. Then we reviewed daily routines once again in the present tense and the passe compose. After that, we did a listening activity with questions. This activity was a little challenging for the student, but he tried his best. We went back to the other homework I had given him; his daily routine written in sequence. He was able to say it without his notes, which I was very happy about! He did a brilliant job. The only thing he has to work on is timing; make his responses flow a little easier. Finally, we briefly worked on simplifying his passe compose routine. Homework: finish the passe compose routine of "Hier Soir." Look up the places and things Quebec is famous for and make a list places to will visit and of foods he plans on trying out. We will use this list to work on the "future proche" on Wednesday.
