I am a constructivist educator. This means that my goal is to make meaningful connections between what my student already knows and the material they are attempting to learn. I think students learn best when they are appropriately challenged in a safe learning atmosphere.

I am a Mechanical Engineering student at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas. The reason I want to make a career in engineering is because I want to work for a company that is all about innovation in the future. I strive to use my knowledge to help humanity become more energy efficient and technologically advanced.

I am looking at their work 'from the outside' and can therefore see where they have improved whereas the student might see their struggles more clearly than their progress. I also believe and emphasize that learning is an ongoing process, and academic skills don't come naturally to most people - they are skills which require practice over time. With a subject like Spanish, I try to relate to the student's struggles by talking about issues that I found difficult as well.

I am a fan of the "Pomodoro Technique," which uses a timer to split each half hour of the session into a 25 minute work period followed by a 5 minute break. The promise of a short respite helps students power through distractions, and the break helps ward off frustration.

I am currently pursuing my PhD in Human Communication with an emphasis in persuasion and social influence.

I am a recent graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelors of Science and Engineering (BSE) in Chemical Engineering. I was selected as the outstanding graduate for the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering and have extensive math, physics, and writing experience. I recently applied and was accepted to many top-ten PhD programs for engineering because of academic merit and personal statement writing skills.
