I am a recent graduate of the University of Arizona, with a BS in Biology and minors in Mathematics and Biochemistry. I am currently working on computer coding and enjoy tutoring students, specializing in test preparation for the ACT, SAT, and GRE.
I have nine years of tutoring experience, tutoring students from elementary age to graduate level, as well as working with students with special needs. I particularly enjoy tutoring mathematics, biology, and helping students prepare for standardized tests. I can also tutor in writing and reading, since I have experience as a professional copy editor. My focus when tutoring is student understanding. I believe academic goals are more readily achievable when concepts are understood, rather than formulas memorized. When helping students prepare for standardized tests I focus on taking practice exams and working with students on the areas they need the most help.
Outside of school I enjoy hiking, gardening, reading, and cooking. I like to explore new ways of doing things and being outside. I like to try to strike a good balance between learning, working, and enjoying time by myself, as well as with friends and family. I am very organized, but have a rather easy-going personality and enjoy working with others.
