The student and I split our time between working on a writing assignment for his geography class and an extra credit assignment for math. I tried to help him break the writing assignment into smaller pieces and organize his ideas. He was able to state his main ideas and some supporting ideas. For math, we worked on a graphing assignment. He was comfortable for the most part with graphing. He wanted to ask his teacher about the assignment and planned to finish it the next day in his skills class.

The students both had a Language arts assignment that involved answering questions about a short film, and another one where they had to fill in the proper pronoun and identify the antecedent. The first student had a math assignment that had her finding the slope of lines and then identifying parallel and perpendicular sets of lines based on slope. She had three math worksheets that all had to do with translations and reflections. She is going to complete an extra credit assignment for her science class in which she will memorize and identify a series of bones and organs for her teacher. She was pretty excited about it.

During this session I helped the students study for their upcoming vocabulary test. To do this, I put the vocabulary words in sentences for them to translate and therefore practice conjugating verbs as well. I will continue to teach by repetition in this area and have asked them to practice throughout the week as well. I have also introduced them to an online learning system. which I have asked them to use to practice with throughout the week as well.

Today the student and I worked on three subjects during the tutoring session. First, we worked on his precalculus review packet that is due tomorrow, and we were able to finish it. Next, we worked on his physics review packet that has no due date, but of course needs to be completed as a way of studying for his physics semester exam. He did really well with this. Lastly, we worked on his Spanish review packet which is due on Monday. It is 18 pages long so I suggested that he do about 4.5 pages per day until it is due to avoid having to complete a ton of pages in one sitting.
