I have an undergraduate and master's degree in Medical Technology, and Ph.D. in Life Sciences with cancer molecular biology and genetics as thesis topic. I completed my Post Doc fellowship at Johns Hopkins Medicine, Baltimore. My tutoring profile include Molecular Biology , Human genetics and Molecular Cytogenetics ( UG and Master's levels for 5 years), Medical technology at associate level(for 1 year) , Lab research dissertation instructor for 10 students. Besides the subject areas above, I could tutor professional certification exam preparation, ASCP-BOC certification exam, Pharmacy technician certification exam, dissertation writing, research article publication( preparation, data analysis, formatting, journal selection) and other board exams. I have long been fascinated by biology - plants, mushrooms, insects - and have always sought to figure out how life works. While pursuing my biology interest in high school, I was introduced to the fantastic world of laboratory work, microbiology, and genetics. I pursued laboratory opportunities and began building the skills needed to get involved in genetic engineering projects while completing my BS in molecular biology at Loyola University Chicago. After my undergraduate career, I stayed on at Loyola in order to pursue an opportunity in a molecular biology lab studying bacterial viruses (phage). I went on to complete my MS in biology having written my thesis on experiments wherein I genetically modified phage populations.I tutored for a variety of biology topics as well as organic chemistry for four years at Loyola. Further, I taught biology laboratory course for five semesters while completing my Master's. I have found few other opportunities to be as engaging or as rewarding as being able to pass on my understanding of my favorite subject, biology, to others. As I continue tutoring students, I hope to continue to cultivating my unique teaching style and to pass on my enthusiasm for the science of life.

Most recently, I worked as a Teaching Assistant in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Columbia University in the City of New York while working on my PhD. I have also completed a number of teaching workshops at the University of Washington and Columbia University, as well as a course in pedagogy. Throughout this time, I continued to tutor K-12 students as well, and am comfortable working with students of all ages. Most importantly, however, I absolutely love working with students, and have a sincere passion and enthusiasm for teaching. I consider it a challenging calling, but one that has been immensely gratifying, both personally and professionally. I completed my high school diploma and graduated from Palmetto Senior High. I got into Miami Dade College, where I enrolled in the science department and majored in biology.During my first semester at Miami Dade College, I won a full tennis scholarship, which helped with tuition and books. After graduating with an Associate of Arts degree, I won another tennis scholarship to St. Thomas University.There, I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. As an athlete, I traveled frequently. I was fortunate to experience many different cultures and meet people of various backgrounds. It has enabled me to be flexible and versatile to unexpected turns and twists in life. Maturity provided a stable ground that kept me in the direction I face today.During my college attendance, I volunteered for Jackson Memorial and Baptist Hospital of Miami. It was there that I devoted my time and energy to humanity. I developed a vast understanding of the world of medicine. I volunteered many hours in The Burn Center, Trauma Unit, Pediatric, ICU, ER, and Pathology.cI then got accepted to Barry University, where I received a Master's degree in biomedical sciences. The education and experience I have received have given me the confidence, knowledge, and well-rounded background in medicine and science.I then entered medical college (Xavier University School of Medicine), which provides the knowledge and art of healing the human body. It encompassed many healthcare practices developed to sustain and restore an individual's health.I finally graduated with my MD degree. I could not imagine not being a part of such an exciting, exhilarating, and rewarding field as science and medicine.

I am a graduate of the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. I then graduated from Parkland College with an Associate in Applied Science in Veterinary Technology. I am currently a graduate student, getting my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy with a Specialization in Child and Adolescent Family Therapy. I am dedicated to helping in any way I can. I have been a CVT for 15 years, working in an ER for 11 of those years. It was an exciting experience and I learned so much about veterinary medicine. Since my hospital is a teaching hospital I had many opportunities to help both veterinarian interns and veterinary technician students learn as we helped care for our patients. I have a passion for biology and the life sciences. I enjoy showing students how to look at their studies in a new way, helping them make more sense of what they are learning. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, dancing, playing with my daughter, and spoiling my 4 cats. I look forward to working with you.

Learning about science has always come naturally to me, though to many it can be a challenging topic. I believe that my natural aptitude for it comes from a deep and genuine interest in the subject. I recognize the grave importance of instilling scientific knowledge in our future generations, so it is my goal to help students overcome any struggles or intimidation of the subject. I aim to do this by encouraging the same interest and curiosity in the subject that has lead me to pursue a career in biology. I believe that the key to conquering all things science is to be curious about the world around us and how it all works.

I am a recent graduate of Loyola University of Chicago, with both a Biology and Bioinformatics BS(2021) and a Bioinformatics MS(2022). I am also starting my PhD at the University of Chicago this fall! My focus at Loyola mainly revolved around the microbiome and computational biology; completing my thesis work studying Celiac disease and the microbiome in the Burns lab. I have experience teaching biology at the college level, at Loyola I was responsible for teaching general biology I and II. I am experienced teaching a wide variety of biological subject matter, however I also have expertise in the realm of computational biology and bioinformatics. I am well versed in R, python and java and how to apply these coding languages to obtain meaningful results from large datasets. It is my goal to make science not only fun and interesting, but also accessible. I will adapt my teaching style to meet the individual needs of each student, and provide interesting and relevant real world examples of biological concepts to illustrate how biology can affect one's everyday life. I spend much of my spare time at the beach with my 6 year old chihuahua Suzy, at the gym or watching movies with friends.

Until I was a post-doc at Temple Medical, I did not realize my capacity for relating my knowledge of my fields of interest to students and visiting researchers. The enjoyment of helping to shape the minds of those who are up and coming scholars excites me. More so though, it is the exchange of ideas and perspectives that drives me to continue pursuing mentorship.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology from Montclair State University in January 2020. I am now working towards a Master of Science in Biology at The University of North Florida, where my graduate research will focus especially on microbiology and molecular biology. As a research assistant at The New Jersey Center for Water Science and Technology, I taught a summer biology course for incoming college freshmen majoring in STEM fields. I tutor high school and college Biology, including a variety of more advanced college courses in the biological sciences. Genetics is an especially exciting field, and so it is my favorite subject to tutor.My motivation to tutor students comes from my own experience in college. When I first decided to major in Biology, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to get through the required math courses. Algebra had never been my friend, and I feared that struggling with math would prevent me from pursuing my love of biology. But with the help of passionate professors and teaching assistants and a lot of hard work, of course I earned A's in my math courses, and discovered that I actually enjoyed the classes! I want to show students that there is no need to shy away from a subject that doesn't come easily to them; being challenged by a course doesn't mean you can't excel in it.When it comes to mastering difficult material, my philosophy is: be active, not passive. For instance, if a student does not know the answer to a question, my solution is not to just give them the answer and move on. Instead, I'll ask the student to make some logical guesses based on their knowledge of a more fundamental concept. This way, I can guide the student towards the correct answer, and help build meaningful connections between different concepts in biology.When I am not in class or at the lab, there's a good chance you'll find me drawing or painting. Making art has always been one of my favorite ways to express my thoughts and feelings. Spending time in nature is also very important to me, and someday I'd like to hike the entire Appalachian Trail!
